I. Objectives
At the end of 60-minute lesson, the student should be able to
a. define angle;
b. find the measure of an angle using protractor;
c. draw an angle given an angle measure: and
d. apply measurement of an angle in solving problems in real life situation.

B. Development of the Lesson

Angle is the union of two rays with a common endpoint called vertex.
The measure of an angle is the amount of opening between the sides of an
angle. We can measure the angle by the use of protractor. A protractor is a
semi-circular device marked off in units of degrees from 0 to 180.
Steps to find the measures of an angle
 place the center point of the protractor over the vertex of an angle;
 align the mark labeled 0 on either side of the scale with one side of the
angle; and
 read the scale where the other side of the angle falls.

Types of Angle Description


Acute Angle is less than 90 °
Right Angle is 90 ° exactly
Obtuse Angle is greater that 90 ° but less than 180 °
Straight Angle is 180 ° exactly
Reflex Angle is greater than 180 ° but less than 360 °
Full Rotation is 360° exactly

Example:
1. Measure the given angle.

Using the outer scale of a protractor, we can see the that ∠ Bis a 45-degree
angle.

∠ ABC=45°
´
45 ° = Angle

2. Measure the given angle.


Using the inner scale of a protractor, we can see the that ∠ Y is a 80-degree
angle.

∠ XYZ=80 °
´
80 °= Angle

3. Draw an angle given.


∠ LAB=120 °
a. Draw a line with a center point.

b. Place the protractor in line with the center point.

c. Mark the angle in line with the given angle. And draw a line.

d. Label the variable correspond to the given side, and label the measure of an
angle.
4. Problem Solving
My crush is 93 ° away from me. Draw where I am and my crush, and the
measurement of the angle we have.

∠ ABC=93 °
