The Fifth District encompasses North Oakland, West Oakland, Montclair, Rockridge, portions of the Fruitvale and San Antonio Districts, and the cities of Piedmont, Berkeley, Emeryville, and Albany. The following is a list of boards and commissions that have vacancies: Assessment Appeals Board of Equalization/2 Vacancy The Assessment Appeals Board is where a property owner can interact directly with the County to get a hearing on a perceived unjust or inaccurate property tax issue. Evidence is presented to the board by both the County Assessor and the property owner to settle the issue. Note: applicants must have 5 years experience as a CPA, accountant, attorney, licensed real estate broker, or property appraiser. Meetings: Monday or Wednesday twice a month, Boards of Supervisors Chambers, 1221 Oak Street, 5th Floor, Oakland, CA Art Commission/1 Vacancies Provides financial support to Alameda County nonprofit arts organizations each year through the Alameda County Supervisors ARTSFUND Grants Program. The Grants Program supports all art forms dance, literature, media arts, music, theater, visual arts, traditional arts and crafts, and multidisciplinary programs. Meetings: 2nd Wednesday of each month, 4 p, 1401 Lakeside Drive, Room 1107, Oakland, CA Housing and Community Development Advisory Board/1 Vacancy Works to maintain and expand decent, safe, and affordable housing opportunities for homeless and low and moderate-income people in Alameda County and to support the revitalization of neighborhoods and communities. HCD fulfills this mission through collaboration and partnerships with cities, community agencies, other County agencies, funders, community members, and others. Meetings: 2nd Tuesday of odd months, 7 pm, 224 West Winton #108, Hayward, CA Human Relations Commission/3 Vacancies Advises the Board of Supervisors on community issues including education, employment, housing and police-community relations. The HRC conducts studies on current intergroup conditions, provides crisis intervention for volatile situations and proposes long-term solutions to promote acceptance of diversity. Meetings: 3rd Wednesday each month, 6 pm 8 pm, 24100 Amador Street, Hayward, CA Mental Health Advisory Board/1 Vacancy Performs advisory functions on matters relating to mental health in Alameda County. Parks, Recreation and Historical Commission/ 1 Vacancy Advises the Board of Supervisors on matters relation to beaches, parks, recreation and historical activities.
