Name:______________________ Interscholastic Athletic Agreement

Cooperation among coaches, student athletes, parents, and school personnel is essential if students are to realize the value of athletic participation. Just as coaches commit to the interscholastic athletic program, students and parents must make commitments to the athletic program. To assure such cooperation, students and parents must read the following agreement and provide signatures indicating that all rules stated within this agreement as well as all aspects of the Board of Education policy entitled Academic Success Program for Interscholastic Athletics will be followed and implemented.

We acknowledge that the student athlete must attend every practice/games unless explicitly excused by the coach. Student athletes that miss 3 unexcused practices /games will be dismissed from the team. We agree that the student athlete must abide by the Ossining School District Code of Conduct and the Academic Success Program. We agree that the student athlete will work closely with all school personnel in order to ensure an appropriate academic as well as athletic experience. We acknowledge the ultimate authority of the coach in determining player selection, team strategies, playing time, and other team related functions. We commit ourselves to promote mature behavior from students and parents during all athletic contests. We commit to ensuring that the student athlete is a worthy representative of all teammates and coaches, abiding by school and community expectations and reflecting the teams values of commitment and hard work. We commit to ensuring that the student athlete maintains positive health and fitness levels. It is agreed that the use of alcohol, drugs, and nicotine is strictly prohibited. We recognize that the future of a student athlete as a responsible adult relates more to academic than athletic activities. We commit to ensuring that the student athlete satisfies family relationships and responsibilities. We commit to ensuring that the student athlete accepts the responsibility of team membership including but not limited to cooperation, support of teammates, shared responsibilities, positive interactions, and mutual respect. Student must be registered in a minimum of three courses and satisfy the Physical Education requirement. 1 The NYSPHSAA allows outside participation in organizations such as: AAU, club teams, travel teams, etc.. It is imperative that all Ossining student athletes understand that the commitment to the school team comes first and outside participation should not be a detriment to an individual or Ossining team.

We believe that students who have the privilege of participating in interscholastic athletics must conduct themselves as responsible representatives of the Ossining School District. We understand that the Director of Health, Physical Education, and Athletics has the right to suspend or dismiss students from the privilege of participating in interscholastic athletics should students violate any rules, agreements, or Code of Conduct. In order to ensure conduct reflective of responsible representatives of the District, student athletes and parents must sign below acknowledging their understanding of the Interscholastic Athletic Agreement and their commitment to adhere to the rules as stated herein.
