2 Student Internships Available Upper Level College Students The Navajo Nation, Division of Economic Development, Support Services

The Opportunity: During winter break 2011, the department intends to offer two (2) internship positions for upper-level college students in public administration, engineering, mathematics, or related discipline, providing an opportunity to gain valuable knowledge and experience in data input, management, design, and execution. The ideal candidates should be in a strong undergraduate humanities- or science-related degree programs, possess excellent work ethics and desire to build a career. The two (2) interns will work on assigned tasks and database development projects with strict time line and deliverables. NNDED prefers students in their junior or senior level of studies, but welcomes all college students that are hard-working, dedicated, and proactive. Key Responsibilities: -Provide data input for surveys and other instruments into a database. -Provide support on assigned tasks and projects related to data management, development, and execution. -Provide support for web site data page development (i.e., proof-reading, user interface review, & maintenance). -May interact with customers for data availability, confirmation, or use via e-mail, telephone, or in person. -Prepare an Internship report with recommendations at end of internship. Location: Both internship positions will be located at the headquarters of the NNDED, Support Services, Karigan Office Complex, St. Michaels, Arizona. Length of internships depends on student winter break. Compensation: -Navajo Nation hiring guidelines, schedule, and compensation will be used for internships. Education and Experience: Undergraduate students will be considered for internships. Students in good academic standing pursuing a Bachelors degree in public administration, engineering, statistics, mathematics, computer science, or science from strong university programs preferred. Candidates should: -Maintain excellent grades and/or recommendations from faculty advisors. -Have basic knowledge and experience of computer hardware, software, and web site development. -Possess good knowledge and experience in data input, management, development, and execution using Excel, Access, or database software. -Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. -Possess strong work ethics.
