Organisation of the Workshop Room
Think about how you would like to organise the room for your presentation. You may like to discuss this with the Roll Call teacher prior to beginning the workshop. Some options: - Normal classroom arrangement, semi-circle of tables and chairs, circle of tables and chairs, groups of tables and chairs If you do rearrange the room, remember to arrange the room back to how it was before you leave. Make sure the computer, data projector and speakers are switched on and ready to go at the before you start the workshop.

Communicating online through social networking sites can be really positive. It can keep you connected to friends and family, encourage creative self-expression and sharpen writing skills. What is "friending?" "Friending" is where members of a social networking site accept someone to their list of friends. Why do people want to build up their friends list? Activity 1: Online Video

We are going to watch a video which explores some of the issues when online communication gets out of hand Lets look at the video Post to be private What is Slick trying to tell Allie about having her profile set to private? Even if your profile is set to private, you should still think before you post and add only people you know in real-life to your friends list. Talk to the person next to you about how many friends are on your list and how many of them you actually see in real life (2 mins) A good rule of thumb is to only add people that you would talk to in real life. If you would not have a chat to that person if you ran into them on the weekend, then you probably dont know them well enough to add them to your friend list.

Have this website ready to go. Also check the sound at the beginning of the lesson

To finish off today, we will be having a little quiz (hand out answer slips) Many of us like to use abbreviations when we email and chat online. Sometimes, we dont even realise how much we use them or what some of them actually mean.
