A SPECIAL MESSAGE ABOUT THE MISSOURI CAUCUS PROCESS

Due to various decisions (or non-decisions) by the Legislature and the Governor, Missouri will choose its presidential delegates by using the caucus process. These caucuses will be held on March 17, 2012. In St.Louis County the caucuses will be held at the Township level and we would encourage everybody that wants to participate to start going to their respective Township meetings and try to find out how your Township will handle the election of Delegates to the State and National Convention. By the way, the St.Louis County has mailed Voter Identification Cards to all registered voters that list your Township and Precinct in the upper left hand corner of the perforated card, i.e. JEFF.003 means you are in Jefferson Township in Precinct 3. If your Township does not hold meetings you should attend the Central Committee Meetings every 2nd Wednesday at the Clayton Government Center at 7:30pm between now and March17, 2012. For the rest of the state of Missouri, the individual counties will hold their Caucus at the County level. Again, you should attend the monthly Central Committee meetings. You can find out about this by calling the Republican Party in your County. Since the Election calendar is determined rather early and the decision to hold caucuses was made relatively late, there will still be a Missouri Presidential Preference Primary on February 7, 2012. Any presidential candidate that had filed as a candidate in the state will be on the ballot and you can actually show your preference for the candidate of your choice, but this vote will be nonbinding. In effect, it will be similar to a straw poll. By the way, Newt Gingrich will not be on that ballot on February 7, 2012 because he failed to register with the Secretary of State before the filing deadline. Some editorial comments about the primary and caucus processThe Missouri Presidential Preference Primary is an "open primary". This means that voter pick a ballot based on party, either Republican or Democrat. In effect, Democrats could vote for the Republican Presidential Candidate that they think would be the weakest candidate to run against Obama and since nobody is running against Obama on the Democratic side, they are really not losing or gaining anything. It is very important for many Tea Party conservatives to participate in the caucus process. We do not want the party to determine who the "party" nominee shall be. Or as the comment from "RedState" says: "Too often, state GOP party insiders have chosen delegates who fall into line, rather than do their job. So we end up with nominees like Dole and McCain who, despite being heroes and great Americans, were ineffective campaigners. Will next year's delegates listen to the electorate or to their better angels? Will they choose the pussycat whose turn has come, or will they choose the tiger?" We need to show the party that we might have different ideas about who the candidate shouldbe.

Special Report: Tea Party grassroots army readies for battle

By Nick Carey
MYRTLE BEACH, South Carolina | Thu Dec 15, 2011 12:50pm EST Reprinted from: http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/12/15/us-special-report-tea-party-idUSTRE7BE0CX20111215

Interviews with activists across 20 U.S. states indicate that Tea Party groups, far from fading, have evolved into an increasingly sophisticated and effective network of activists. They are working to unseat establishment Republicans who they believe have betrayed the principles of lower taxes, limited government, and free markets. "Those who think the Tea Party is on the wane are in for a gigantic surprise in 2012," says Debbie Dooley, co-organizer of the Atlanta Tea Party. "We have built a grassroots army and we will be a fine-tuned machine next year." The goal of these loosely affiliated but fiercely independent groups nationwide is to hone their electoral skills and build a "farm team" of public officials who can ascend through the ranks of government. It's a long-term strategy that looks past the 2012 election to a takeover of the Republican Party and the U.S. Congress TO SEE COMPLETE ARTICLE, Ctrl+click HERE (or here http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/12/15/us-special-report-tea-party-idUSTRE7BE0CX20111215

The National Popular Vote 11 States Can Decide the Presidential Election
December 9, 2011

By Sara Noble Reprinted from: http://www.independentsentinel.com/2011/12/the-national-popular-vote-11-states-will-decide-thepresidential-election/ While Americans are focused on the election, the Progressive wing of the Democratic Party, funded by two eccentric businessmen and a George Soros son, are stealthily orchestrating the decimation of the voting process and states rights through the National Popular Vote Compact (NPV). The NPV is a popular sound bite that will do the opposite of what it is portrayed to do make each Americans vote count. It does not do that because it keeps the electoral college but misuses it. What it actually does is create a forced merger between heavily populated states and less populated states. Currently moving at a rapid pace, the NPV is a state-by-state initiative that will force states to allocate their electoral votes to the winner of the national popular vote, rather than the winner of the popular vote in their state. NPV will greatly reduce the power of most states. McConnell warns of popular vote 'catastrophic outcome'

By Tom Curry, msnbc.com National Affairs Writer
Addressing what he called the most important issue in America that nobody is talking about, Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell warned Wednesday that the National Popular Vote movement is getting dangerously close to achieving their goal of eliminating the Electoral College without actually amending the Constitution -- without anybody even noticing, unfortunately, what theyre up to. The National Popular Vote is a compact among state legislatures under which they pledge that theyll award their electoral votes to the presidential candidate who wins the most popular votes nationwide, even if that candidate was not the majority choice of their states voters.

A YEAR-END RECAP ABOUT MOPP FROM FRIEDA KEOUGH

Judy Sofka, Anita Foelsch and myself started the Missouri Precinct Project (MOPP) a year ago because we thought that something needed to be done to mobilize conservative citizens to become more involved in local governance and the political process. And the more we got into it the more we realized that what really needs to happen is to rebuild the party from the ground up and that starts at the Precinct or Ward or Township level. The citizens need to become involved in their local affairs and make their elected officials responsive to their needs and not the needs of the governing organizations. And while a good number of conservatives was elected in the 2010 elections at the State and the Federal level, more constitutional conservatives at all levels need to be elected that can start to tell the long-time incumbents to start moving in the direction of constitutional governance. Getting elected to any position can no longer mean doing what the power structure wants to do to maintain their influence but to move our country back into a form of governance based on the constitutional principles. Off course, the major goal of MOPP is to register more citizens to vote and increase voter turnout to work towards the goal of more conservatives getting elected. It is critical that we do not loose sight of the fact that we are in a long fight to right the country and back to the principals of our founding fathers. When people are unhappy with the state of affairs or that our elected officials are not doing anything I think it is important to remember that we must rebuild the party from the ground up and we must improve at whatever progress we make from one election to the next election. So how have we done? I believe we are making progress. We are increasing awareness across the state about our mission and I know we are making progress in making people aware that we need to get more conservative individuals into positions at the local level. Maybe we have not had any major wins yet but I know that more and more people are thinking about getting involved, running for positions and raising their hand to become leaders in our organizations. In this season of advent we need to be thankful for our small successes and be assured that if we continue to look forward and put our trust in the Lord we will and we can reach our goals - get more people involved in the political process - start rebuilding the Republican party by finding and electing constitutional conservative leaders at the local, state and federal level - no longer accept political leaders that only want to maintain the status quo.

Our country is in desperate need of real leaders and not politicians that are only interested in furthering their own narrow interests and careers. The American people deserve better.
