    MacPherson Chair in Indigenous Studies


    McMaster Universitys Indigenous Studies Program invites applications from Indigenous scholars of international reputation, established prominence, or dynamic promise for the Paul R. MacPherson Chair in Indigenous Studies, effective July 1, 2012. The role of the Chair will be to contribute significantly to the body of scholarship in Indigenous knowledge, with particular emphasis on the importance of strengthening and preserving Hodinohs:ni knowledge, languages, culture and history. We seek a candidate who holds a PhD (or equivalent) and has an outstanding record of collaborative community partnerships, teaching, and research accomplishments. The successful candidate will maintain a vigorous program of research, be an active contributor to the Deyohah:ge Indigenous Knowledge Centre at Six Nations Polytechnic, serve as a leading researcher and teacher in the Indigenous Studies Program, and be appointed to an appropriate academic department at the University (For a full list of departments, see the McMaster website at http://www.mcmaster.ca/home.cfm ). Candidates must have direct experience with, as well as demonstrated knowledge of, traditional Hodinohs:ni culture and values. Knowledge of an Indigenous language is also an asset.
