Christs School PTA Minutes of the PTA meeting on Monday, 7th November 2011 held in the school library

In attendance: Elizabeth Mends, Sue Livingston-Urquart (Co-Chairs of PTA), Sarah Brown, Georgie Bean (Assistant Head), Jenny Sneesby, Ian West, Mike Greenwood (Treasurer), Malcolm Butler, Rowan Woodward and Helen Cox (Secretary)

Apologies: Diane Whitmore, Lisa Adams and Jude Tugman Minutes Minutes of the previous meeting on 19th September June approved by all present. Matters arising Past minutes to GB for school website now on website thanks to Julia Ralph. Photos from fireworks night from Vicki Sharp to school for PTA page on website. PTA funds for the new build Everyone present commented on how lovely the new library is. Sarah Brown explained what the funds (approx 8,000) would be used for and will email a list of exact figures for the PTA. Items brought by PTA include: projectors, monitors, speakers and a wide range of fiction and non fiction books. Discussion took place about funding and all present agreed to fund suggestions by Sarah. MG confirmed that PTA income stands at 13,800. 1,200 earmarked for samba band and 2,000 for Emelyn Memorial. Therefore approximately 10,000 left. MG to write cheque once list received from SB (since received). Fireworks report All agreed it was a wonderful evening. Thanks to fireworks team Ian West, Malcolm Butler and Ian Brightey for all their hard work. Approx 1,000 tickets were sold in advance and 200 on the gate. Family tickets sold reflect that it is more of a community event and appeals to local Primary Schools. Discussion took place on how to encourage more Christs families. GB to investigate with Finance Department if PTA can have income paid into the on-line school payment scheme (SCOPay) to save cheques and cash coming into school. Thanks to all the staff who attended. Agreed more pop up gazebos needed (these are difficult to buy in the autumn). Minuted item PTA to buy six popup gazebos (2.7metres x 3m2) Potatoes for Borneo fundraising sold well, Ben and Philip agreed to pay 25. Agreed to pay the 100 for white tent to Rose. Caged speaker system in sports hall, agreed good for cross curricular activities. GB to speak to Mr Colvin. Drama Hall Fix speaker system and lighting. 7. Quiz Night Brief discussion took place about Quiz Night. GB checked school calendar and confirmed 16th March 2011 ok with the school. Team of volunteers needed to help organise the event. Any volunteers please contact the PTA via the email christsschoolpta@gmail.com GB to investigate cash and carry account for school PTA. Carol Concert 15th December 2011 This being organised by Elizabeth Swan. Any requests / interest from parents or otherwise to have a stall at the Christmas fair can be forwarded to GB at school gbean@christs.richmond.sch.uk 100 mince pies needed for event. HC to email request to parents. 9. Report from the school i) Request for funds for Christmas Tree Discussed and PTA approved expenditure of 100. Any Other Business Blessing EM and SL-U reported that they attended the blessing of the new chapel with the Bishop and that it was a lovely event. Gmail PTA account HC concerned that many emails are bouncing back to Gmail account. HC to email letter to GB to be sent by school via Parent Mail. This will ask parents/carers to email christsschoolpta@gmail.com with their email address if they want to be included in PTA mailings.
