International Card Design Competition to celebrate HM The Queens Diamond (60th) Jubilee.

Competition:
The Worshipful Company of Chartered Architects (WCCA), and the Commonwealth Association of Architects (CAA), invite architects and students of architecture in the Commonwealth to participate in an international design competition for a 3D pop up Diamond Jubilee card for HM The Queen. The winning card will be delivered to HM The Queen by the Worshipful Company of Chartered Architects to celebrate her (60th) Diamond Jubilee. The winner will be awarded a prize of 60.00 to cover their materials costs, and two invitations to the Annual WCCA Livery Banquet in the City of London, at which their achievement will be recognised with a framed Certificate.

Method:
The competition is being administered by WCCA, in partnership with the CAA There is no fee to enter the competition. An international short-list of high quality designs, comprising 10% of the total number of card entries, will be selected by a jury including WCCA members, The Master of the WCCA and the Executive Director of CAA. The short listed cards will be displayed at a prestigious venue in the City of London, and the overall winner will be selected by a public vote of visitors to that venue over a two week period, and by electronic vote via the competition website.

Submissions
The 3D pop up card design must not exceed 210 mm x 280 mm (A4 size) when folded flat, and must not exceed 280 mm high when fully opened. A text of not more than 500 words should be included on a separate A4 sheet explaining the rationale and inspiration behind the design.

Procedure and Timing


Entrants must register their interest in participating by completing and submitting the registration form by 20th March 2012 via email to valerieowen@ukexecutives.com Queries about the competition may be addressed to valerieowen@ukexecutives.com by 20th March 2012. Responses will be collated and posted on the competition website. The submission (without any name or other identifying marks) together with a copy of your registration form and an image of your design in a separate unmarked envelope must be submitted by post or courier by 20th April 2012 to: Queens Jubilee Competition, 29 The Strand, Walmer, Kent CT14 7DX, UK Entrants must ensure that all costs relating to the carriage of their entry have been paid for in full at the point of dispatch. Declare packages as Documents - No commercial value in the required or equivalent format as advised by the courier or post office. The first round, short-listing judging panel will take place in w/c 23rd April 2012. Second round judging by members of the public and by electronic vote, will take place for two weeks from w/c 7th May. The winning card will be delivered to HM The Queen w/c 28th May (in time for the Jubilee Celebration weekend in June 2012).

Eligibility
The competition is open to architects and graduate architects, being members of their national institute in a Commonwealth or CAA member country and graduate architects, and students of architecture enrolled in a school of architecture in a Commonwealth or CAA member country.
