Goals need to be specific, challenging and real-istic. While having something to work towards instills motivation, having a goal that is unrealis-tic will only create frustration. After you set a goal, create the steps to attain it. Once you have everything mapped out, seek out ways to stay motivated. Some people work well with a buddy system having a friend hold them accountable to their goals. Others use reward systems as an encouragement. Find whatever works best for you to keep motivated and stay focused on your end result. Goal management experts suggest remembering this acronym: SMART According to Paul J. Meyer in Attitude is Everything, goals need to be: S Specific M Measurable A Action-oriented R Realistic T Tangible
So stop simply thinking about your New Years reso-lutions, and start planning on how to actualize your goals. This year, set SMART goals and put them into action!

THE OCTAVE DAY OF THE NATIVITY OF THE LORD/SOLEMNITY OF MARY, THE HOLY MOTHER OF GOD
Here are some ground rules for setting a family New Year's Resolution:
1) Sit down with your family and discuss what sort of resolution you'd like to make. Then, set a specific time frame in which to achieve your goal, and build in checkpoints to monitor your progress. 2) Involve everyone in the game plan, then encourage and support one another in their unique roles. Accountability is a key factor in keeping things on track. 3) Identify the payoff. How will you know when the goal has been reached? 4) Celebrate your success. Savor the moment, and let everyone revel in the accomplishment of the goal. The more fun you make it, the more your family will look forward to taking on future challenges!

Everybody today seems to be in such a terrible rush, anxious for greater development and greater riches, so that children have very little time for their parents. And parents have very little time for their children and for each other. So the breakdown of peace in the world begins at home. ~ Blessed Mother Teresa
