Performer Biographies

Korean Kayagum Play


Grace Jong Eun Lee is the founder, composer and director of Canada Cen-
tre for Kayagum Performing Arts. The kayagum is the best known traditional
Korean musical instrument with twelve silk strings and movable bridges.
Canada Centre for Kayagum Performing Arts was founded in Jan. 2008, and
is bring their elegant style of play to world wide audiences with their wide
repertoire. "One of Canada's leading Kayagum Virtuosos" - The Georgia
Straight, 2007. "Her sonic world is one of gentle, meditative space and tran-
quility." - Vancouver Sun, 2003.

Korean Traditional Mask Dance:


Alejandro Mujica-Olea Areadne Sawyer Chang Hyun Han is the founder and teacher of the Korean Traditional
Arts Society. The Society was founded in 2000. It is dedicated to promoting
diverse Korean traditional culture and arts in Canada. Korean Traditional
Mask Dance is developed as an amalgam of shamanic rituals, farmers'
Gardener 85 songs, court dances. It is evolved in the Koryo Dynasty period, and village
shamans performed mask dances during the harvest, burials and exorcisms.
