The company credits Jacob Thiel with its tradition of
quality craftsmanship. CCA says he was “a gifted craftsman”
and taught his six sons everything he knew about the trade.
In 1955, two of the sons, Robert and Donald, opened R&D
Thiel – a woodworking business – and were soon joined
by their brothers Thomas, Gerald, Allan and Harry.

suburbs of Chicago and has continued to expand under the
name Carpenter Contractors of America,” the company says.
