Hello and welcome to a BBC special report of the 24th us open tennis championships. The sunshine is out here in flushing meadows and we cannot wait to see the players today. Will Djokovic continue his remarkable form this year and win his third major of the year or will roger federer rekindle old magic to win his 17th grand slam. Can nadal bounce back from his Wimbledon disappointment to retain his us open crown and finally could Andy Murray win his first grand slam and end Britains 75 years wait for a male grand slam title. The latest odds are that Novak djokovic is the favourite to win this years us open. Im sure we are all looking forward to this year to see these great tennis players compete in one of the best tournaments in the world. At this current time Novak djokovic is the worlds best player and wants to win his first grand slam as world number one. He is a favourite to win this tournament. His first round match is Conor Niland who is an Irish qualifier. Former world number and 16 grand slam winner roger federer plays the Columbian Santiago giraldo. Former world number 1 and 10 time grand slam champion Rafael nadal plays Andrey Golybev from Kazakhstan and finally the British number one plays Somdev Devvarman from India. We will go over to our tennis correspondent at flushing meadows to discuss how far he thinks each of the top 4 will go in this years us open. Presenter in studio: hi mark what the weather is looking like early this week in these championships. Give an overall summary on who you think will win the us open. Mark: well Alex as you can see the weather is bright and we expect this weather for next few days at least. Mark: the buzz around the us open is djokovic will win he has beaten the other 3 of the top four this year in grand slams and he is in great form and is playing like a world number one. I personally think it will be djokovic and nadal in the final and djokovic will beat federer and nadal will beat Murray. This year djokovic and nadal have been the stand out

players and djokovic has taken tennis to another level, the improvement over the last 12 months for Novak djokovic has been incredible. Murray and federer are playing well but I do not think in this moment in time they can beat nadal or djokovic.
