CHANNEL [V]S WHAT U WANT SIGNS OFF ON 7 NOVEMBER

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Monday 13 October, 2008 XYZnetworks Channel [V] today announced that its daily viewer request show WHAT U WANT will finish production on 7 November. WHAT U WANT first premiered on Channel [V] in April 2002. Shaun James, General Manager, XYZnetworks Music Channels said, After six years and over 1500 episodes we have come to the decision that it is time to take a break. Our target audience has changed the way they consume music and we continue to evolve with them. WHAT U WANT has been the flagship of Channel [V] over a long period of time and the first truly interactive music television in Australia. We feel that it is time to take a breath and look to some exciting new options moving into 2009. He added that the final show would be a great celebration of the history of WHAT U WANT and noted that it also coincided with the announcement of the Top 4 finalists in this years OZ ARTIST 08 award. In addition, Channel [V] has a huge summer line up with Homebake, Falls Festival and its long association with Big Day Out all scheduled to air over the December and January period. Other local productions to premiere on Channel [V] in this period include the third season of the hugely popular CASH CAB featuring new host Charlie Pickering, and a Monday afternoon version of the highly successful interactive [V] FOR ME, which will commence on Monday 27th October at 4pm. James concluded by saying, We remain focussed on bringing innovative music television to our target audience and remaining at the forefront of the music genre.
