focused on large organisations: high street retailers and banks as well as the public sector clients whilst Viking services businesses in the SME sector and schools via direct mail and e-commerce sites.

THE CHALLENGE
O ce Depot UK and Ireland identi ed business risks associated with physical, environmental and human threats that could cause disruption to their IT assets, and which could potentially result in loss of business revenue due to down time. The organisation was in need of a dependable environmental monitoring solution throughout seven of its UK and Ireland locations. O ce Depot UK and Ireland required a scalable solution including integrated security surveillance and a data management software package. All of these solutions were needed in order to manage multiple IT environments simultaneously in the future, if required. In addition, the retailer wanted to provide environmental monitoring, including temperature, humidity, smoke and leak detection to each communications room. ISG technology assessed the needs of O ce Depot UK and Ireland and worked with the Company to create a solution that worked best for their environment. The solution proposed could be used in communications rooms, however it is commonly installed in server rooms and small data centres. ISG technology customised the solution in order to suit the customers requirements.

SOLUTIONS DELIVERED
ISG technology provided the environmental monitoring solutions with all of the features and speci cations that the seven UK and Ireland locations of O ce Depot required. The software captures events as they occur and is able to store the clips locally at the appliance or centrally. Options are provided for accessing surveillance events by date and time and then can be shown in movie-like clips. The surveillance clips can be digitally signed, which is the digital equivalent of a visually watermarked document. These digital signatures make it very di cult to hide any tampering of images and provide high con dence in the integrity of the surveillance clips. The combination of environmental sensors and video cameras provide up-to-the second room and rack-level information on what is happening in the communications rooms. Integrated software assesses the severity of any physical threat, whether environmental or human, and sends alerts via email or phone. In todays thriving business climate, it is critical to have real-time, organisation-wide access to physical and environmental data that are potential threats to the systems, infrastructure and assets that are critical to running a business. ISG technology provided such support to seven UK and Ireland locations of O ce Depot in a timely manner and in a well organised way.
