Justin Runs for Fun Rrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnng! Rrrrrrrrrrrriiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnng! (sound of alarm ringing) Rrrrrrrrrrrriiiiiiii------ (stops the alarm) Darn.

I hate waking up early in the morning. (grumbling) Are you up? (dad opens door) Dad opened the door. Yes, dad. Put on your running shoes and lets go! Dad thinks I should be running. The truth is, I'd rather be doing team sports like soccer. Pass the ball to Justin! (classmate 1) Give it to him! (classmate 2) Kick it Jus. (classmate 3) I gave the ball one mighty kick. (kicks the ball) The goalie made a dive for it. (goalie dives) The ball gets through. We score. We win the game! (raises both hands up) Justins going to join the Azkals some day." Mom said as she cooked lunch. No. Hes going to start running like me. (stretching his legs) Whats the fun in running, Dad? You run alone. You make your own time, your own speed. But its good for your heart. Dad insisted. It's good for cholesterol. It's good for your body fat. (Dad points to Justin) (Justin looks at himself; then looks sheepish; then gives a big sigh) So I started running. (runs, but grumbles) along Treas avenue. (continues running) Halee, halee. You lan. I make lugaw. (Chinese accent and panting) Wet a menet. No. lugaw. Thes pata oveh deh. (Chinese accent and panting)

Ah, pata, good. Pata good. (Chinese accent and panting) Bad cholesterol! (reprimands couple) (Chinese couple looks at Justin) What's you ploblem huh? (A fat woman is panting; she groans) (Justin amusingly looks at her) (The fat woman groans again) (Justin looks at her again) Too much body fat, lady!!!!!!! (Justin insults fat woman) (Fat woman is still panting; looks at Justin angrily) Have you got some manners boy?! (Fat woman looks at Justin closely) Aaaaaaah I know your father. When I got home, dad was waiting at the door. (Justin looks worried) My friend called me up. (Sternly) Yeah. I'm sorry, dad. Because of that I am giving you a challenge. You will join next Sunday's fun run. What??????? Every Sunday there's a fun run, dad. Can I join two months from now? No! Next Sunday it is. And remember, it's a fun run. Is it really? I have seen pictures of runners. It's not a pretty sight, dad. (Runs then painful pose 1) (Runs then painful pose 2) (Runs then painful pose 3) They look more like they're dying than having fun. Because they forget it's a fun run, Jus. F-U-N. What's difficult to remember with a three letter word? FUN. Amazing! My best friend, Ralph, said when I told him about the run.

I cant even run as fast as Dad, Ralph. Ill be left behind. (dog barking and yapping) Whos dog is that? (Justin is surprised) My dads. He bought it recently. That's a big one. (dog barking and yapping) Yeah. Awesome. Right? And if you have a bone hes the fastest and friendliest running dog youll ever see. The idea struck me like Einsteins bolt of lightning. Ralph, you are my one and only best friend. Yeah. Awesome. Right? So this is what youre going to do.. (whispers to Ralph) No way. My dads gonna get angry. No he wont. Im youre best friend right? Yeah. Awesome. Right? So here we are on the day of the run. I stretched my muscles. (stretching his legs) And kept my eyes on Ralph. Hey, dude! (two fingers from his eyes like a mafia) When they fire the starting gun --- . (shouting) (sound of gun being fired) The starting gun sounded off! Ralph, the bone! (shouting at Ralph) Here, Jus. (throwing) (catches the bone) Ralph, the dog! (shouting at Ralph)

And he let go of that big, playful dog. With bone in hand, I started running. (dog barking and yapping) I picked up speed. (dog barking and yapping) And soon I was running ahead of dad! (triumphantly) Run, Justin, run! Ralph was shouting. I am running! (dog barking) I was running at a speed of light. The streets of Iloilo wheezed passed me. Look at that kid go! (bystander 1) I heard a bystander cry out. Look whos running behind him. Ha, ha, ha! Thats some wise kid. (bystander 2) (dog barking and yapping) I could hear the crowd laughing. (different kinds of laughter) Come on, Jus. Come on! Then the finish line came nearer and nearer. I had to get rid of the dog. And so I threw the bone away. And I crossed the finish line. The crowd roared. I have never ran so hard in my young life. (panting) Dad was so proud of me. Did you have fun, Jus? Of course, I did! And it showed in the pictures. Other than the dog chasing me, I never forgot the photographers along the way. Click. (Fun pose 1) Click. (Fun pose 2) Click. (Fun pose 3)
