Engg Economics & Optimization IMPORTANT NOTICE (6th January 2012) End Semester Exam Details:
The paper will be comprised of following topics:1. Present Worth Analysis 2. Future Worth Analysis 3. Internal Rate of Return (IRR) 4. Net Present Value (NPV) 5. Net Present Cost (NPC) 6. Cash Flow Types 7. Mutually Exclusive Alternatives (MEA) 8. Capitalized Cost 9. Linear Programming: Graphical Method P.S: Most of these topics are from Chapter No. 04 and 06 of Engineering Economy by Gerald J. Thuesen. While for Linear Programming:Graphical Method please refer to the Chapter No. 02 of Operations Research by H.A.Taha.

There is no limits or boundaries regarding the above context. e.g. the calculation steps, cash flow diagram etc related to IRR or NPV may be asked from any where. You can get the reference from every available source.

Paper Pattern:
Paper will be comprised of 5 questions without any choice. Time Duration = 2 1/4 hrs. The lab manual of Introduction to Economics & Optimization is not included.

NO INTERCHANGE OF CALCULATOR/INTEREST TABLES OR OTHER ACCESSORIES WILL BE ALLOWED.

Lab Quiz:
The lab quiz which was decided to conduct along with End Semester Exam will also be taken. It will be comprising of MCQs. Time Duration = 3/4 hrs. (Uploaded on the web with the consent of AP Engr. Tanzeel-ur-Rashid on 6th January 2012 at 09:48 PM.)

IMPORTANT NOTICE (20th December 2011) Practical Notebook Instructions:

It is for the information of all concerned that you have to write following five (5) terms/functions in your practical notebook of Engineering Economics & Optimization:1. Present Worth (PW) 2. Future Worth (FW) 3. Internal Rate of Return (IRR) 4. Net Present Value (NPV) From Optimization portion: 5. Linear Programming (Graphical Method) For each of the above function you will have to do atleast three (3) examples MANUALLY as well as on MS EXCEL. The examples should be written in the format: Practical No. 01. Present Worth After stating its requisite theory content, the examples should be like this: 1a, 1b, 1c. Practical No. 02. Future Worth After stating its requisite theory content, the examples should be like this: 2a, 2b, 2c. And so on for the other experiments also. The last date of submission of your practical notebooks is Thursday 29th December 2011 in official hours.

Lab Marks Distribution:

Practical Notebook = 05 Lab Assessment/Evaluation * = 05 Lab Final Quiz = 10 * The lab assessment/evaluation of every student has been made in your respective lab sessions.

Lab Final Quiz Instructions:

The quiz will consist of all the above mentioned topics/terms/functions. There is no limits or boundaries regarding the above context. e.g. the calculation steps, cash flow diagram etc related to IRR or NPV may be asked from any where. You can get the reference from every available source. In addition to these topics the quiz will also be comprised of the Lab Manual Introduction to Economics & Optimization which was given in the very first lab. (CLICK HERE to download it.)

Quiz Timings:
A1, A3, B1, B3 = Monday, 26th December 2011 at 10:00 AM in CAD I lab. A2, A4, B2, B4 = Thursday, 29th December 2011. This is the tentative one. For checking the exact date please check back soon.
