The Ordway is widely recognized as one of the nations leading nonprofit performing arts centers and Saint Pauls most elegant and inviting performance space. The Ordways Music Theater and McKnight stages attract diverse audiences with an array of productions showcasing the finest in American musical theater, world music, dance and vocal performance. Education and community engagement are integral to the Ordways mission, with major initiatives including the annual Flint Hills International Childrens Festival and Ordway Education programs that serve more than 50,000 students annually. The Ordway also serves as authorizer for the Saint Paul Conservatory for Performing Artists, a professionally guided academic and artistic environment that trains aspiring pre-professional performing artists. Together with The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, Minnesota Opera and The Schubert Club, the Ordway is a member of the Arts Partnership and serves as the principal venue for their performances. Within the next several
years, the Ordway will be transforming its current McKnight Theatre and replacing it with an 1,100 seat, state-of-theart concert hall. The Production Director manages all production-related backstage activities at the Ordway and at any alternate venues where Ordway programs are presented or produced. Production Director oversight includes all Ordway presentations, traveling Broadway shows, Ordway productions, and events. This position is also responsible for all capital and maintenance planning and execution for the areas of the facility overseen by the production department. Responsibilities: y Supervise the preparation, coordination and operation of all production activities for presentations. y Supervise full- and part-time production department personnel. y Work with the Vice President Theatrical Programming, Producing Artistic Director on all Ordway selfproductions to support and execute the artistic vision of the production in line with Ordway contracts and policies. y Serve as production contact for Arts Partner Organizations and rental clients; coordinate schedules, equipment and facility usage, offer design assistance and budgeting assistance as needed. Assist users with contract compliance and other bargaining agreement rules. y Create, implement and supervise a preventative maintenance program for all production and building facilities equipment. y In consultation with VP of Facilities and Operations, coordinate all venue enhancements in conjunction with concert hall expansion and special capital projects. y In consultation with VP of Facilities and Operations, prepare and analyze long-range and current fiscal year capital and operating budgets for the Ordways production department. y Develop and supervise production budgets and schedules for the Ordways productions, presentations and performance events. This includes analyzing presentation riders, determining crew size and schedule, and creating the load-in and production schedule. y Research equipment to upgrade the facility to better serve the productions, presentations, performance events, and patrons. y Draft/read blueprints, obtain bids, recommend vendors, and work with shops to manage the design and fabrication of sets for the Ordway productions, as well as outside renters as needed, according to blueprints and budget. y Serve as Production Manager for all Ordway productions including the International Childrens Festival, World Music and Dance Series, and Summer Dance, which take place at the Ordway and in outside venues utilized by the Ordway. y Serve as liaison between guest directors, designers, technical crews, and theater management.

Oversee working conditions and schedules to ensure they are in compliance with unions holding jurisdiction in that area (I.A.T.S.E., U.S.A., S.S.D.C., A.E.A., and A.F. of M.) Participate in production- and facility-related union negotiations. Provide work direction for the Ordways Production Stage Manager, Assistant Production Manager, Technical Supervisor, House Crew and Stage Hands, contract labor such as drivers, design assistants, etc. Provide production input to designers and directors. Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required. Serve on the following: - Operation Committee - Safety Committee - Risk Management Committee Other duties as required.

Qualifications: y y Bachelors degree in technical theater, stage management, or theatrical design required. A Masters Degree in technical theater or like course of study highly preferred. Minimum 8 years of experience in stage management, technical and production management on large-scale, first-class theatrical and/or touring productions, including set load-ins and transfers. Working knowledge and professional experience in production management including: theatrical production concepts, design, practices and operations; artist management, agencies and agreements; producer, general management and promoter organizations, relationships and agreements. Professional experience in production management of first-class theatrical companies required. Venue management experience required Possess knowledge of contracts in the following unions: I.A.T.S.E., U.S.A., S.S.D.C., A.E.A., and A.F.of M. Demonstrated ability to communicate with diverse employee base as well as designers, directors, technical crews, and theatre management required. Demonstrated ability to prioritize, balance budgets and bring projects in on time required. Extensive computer skills with high level of proficiency in Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, Auto Cad or VectorWorks, Lightwright, and Access software required. Must have valid Minnesota state drivers license and vehicle in good working condition.
