A page-description language (PDL) is a computer language that describes the text and graphics in a document. Printers and RIPs understand page-description languages. RIP stands for "Raster Image Processor." A RIP is a device or a software program that converts page-description-language code to the format required by the print engine in a printer. The objective of the PDLs is when a document is ready for printing, the PC or workstation takes the images, typographical information, and document layout, and uses them as objects that form instructions for the printer to process. The printer then translates those objects into rasters; a series of scanned lines that form an image of the document (called Raster Image Processing or RIP), and prints the output onto the page as one image, complete with text and any graphics included. This workflow makes printing documents of any complexity uniform and standard, allowing for little or no variation in printing from one printer to the next. PDLs are designed to be portable to any format, and scalable to fit several paper sizes. PostScript is a programming language optimized for printing graphics and text on paper, film, or graphic displays. It is a page description language. PostScript (PS), created in 1985 by Adobe Systems, Inc., is a printing and imaging system in which you can produce high quality, beautiful graphics. PostScript is the default graphics language for UNIX/LINUX operating systems. PostScript is an interpreted, vector-based graphics language, with many small commands. PostScript is also a programming language, containing the usual programming constructs such as procedures, arrays, and loops. The main purpose of PostScript was to provide a convenient language in which to describe images in a device independent manner. This device independence means that the image is described without Testing and debugging to find out the unused allocIDs reference to any

specific device features (e.g. printer resolution) so that the same description could be used on any PostScript printer without modification

2.1 Enablement of Monochrome Print Path

Client Environment Technology Team Size Duration Role : : : : : : Hewlett Packard Windows 2000/XP, Visual Studio C++ and .Net Framework 2 4 months. Scoping , development and testing

Feature overview: The purpose of this feature provide the capability to the printer to print monochrome and thereby support a maximum resolution of 1200x1.

Responsibilities 1) Analysis and understanding of the FDD 2) Designing and Implementation of FQP 3) Have created Test files to test all device behaviors and constraints for the Interrupt Job feature

2.2 Support for Asian Languages

Client Environment Technology Team Size Duration Role : : : : : : Hewlett Packard Windows 2000/XP, Visual Studio C++ and .Net Framework 4 6 Months Scoping , development and testing

Feature Overview: The DirectPDF component of OZ firmware implements DirectPDF personality to enable direct printing of Adobes Portable Document Format. Since DirectPDF is becoming the de-facto standard for electronic exchange of documents, a separate DirectPDF personality was developed so that HPs LaserJet printers can print these DirectPDF files directly with out a need to convert them to PS or PCL. DirectPDF Personality was initially implemented to support Adobes DirectPDF Specification, Version 1.2. Over a period of time, number of new features was added to this DirectPDF component to support new releases of DirectPDF Specification by Adobe. As of today, DirectPDF component supports direct printing of PDF files conforming up to Adobes PDF Specification, Version 1.5. Implementation of DirectPDF component is not fully conforming to OZ coding standards. Also, due to continuous enhancement of DirectPDF personality, more rigorous testing with its AllocIDs should be performed. This code cleanup effort is intended to address memory allocation issues should they occur and allow the DirectPDF personality to recover in a graceful manor. Currently not all of the defined AllocIDs have been tested in this manor. This effort will guide so that DirectPDF component will be fully conforming to OZ coding standards and will be more robust and more efficient.

Responsibilities 1) Analysis and understanding of the FDD 2) Designing and Implementation of FQP 3) Test case mapping to the AllocIds and Analysis of the code to find out the unused AllocIds Capabilities Overview: y y y y Handle multiple priorities and prioritize workloads. Good communication and interpersonal management skills. Capacity to work diligently and a good diagnostic ability. Committed, hard working with the quest and zeal to learn new technologies.
