Unit 3 Culminating Project: Social Studies A Fight for a Continent

Task: You will create a scrapbook of the unit Fight for a Continent in which you will collect examples of cooperation and conflict among American Indian nations and between American Indian groups and European settlers.
Part 1: Cover o Must include the following: Title Name Illustration of something that caused cooperation and an example of something that caused conflict. Due date for Part 1 _________________________

Part 2: Evidence of Knowledge


o Must include the following: 10 or more events, documents, or people relating to the theme cooperation and conflict. Entries will have two parts: a picture of the artifact and a written explanation. Entries may be written neatly or typed. Pictures may be drawn or be images from online sources. Pictures must include an explanation of how it is an example of either cooperation or conflict and what the event was. This should be at least a paragraph in length. Due date for Part 2 _________________________ Part 3: American Indian Viewpoint o Based on Chief Tecumsehs speech and what we learned in the unit, write a speech (2-3 paragraphs) giving the viewpoint of an American Indian from one of the groups we learned about in the unit. You are to imagine that you are a member of an American Indian tribe writing a persuasive speech to convince a colonist that what he/she is doing to your people is wrong. Due date for Part 3 _________________________ Part 4: Early Settler Point of View o Based on John Gasts painting American Progress and what we learned in the unit, create your own American Progress drawings.
