May 2012 Graduates - Honors Candidacy Form due by February 1, 2012. If you are a spring 2012 candidate for graduation you are required to complete this form.

A Message From the Director Every four years--for a few brief moments--South
Carolina becomes the epicenter of the American political universe. The South Carolina primary (to be held this year on January 21) is the third contest of the presidential election season (after Iowa and New Hampshire), and the first in the South. Historically, South Carolina has been a "make or break" state for presidential candidates, especially in the Republican Party.

Kate Gasparro and Clemson Engineers Without Borders would like to say THANK YOU! for all your contributions and donations. They were able to give new school supplies to approximately 150 students and teachers during their trip to Nicaragua over winter break. The recipients were very excited and thankful for everything.

It's very possible that one or more of the Republican presidential candidates will visit Clemson over the next week. Often these appearances are scheduled on short notice, and once scheduled are subject to change (one candidate has already scheduled and then cancelled an event). If and when we hear about any candidate visits, we will let you know ASAP. Please understand that neither Clemson nor the Calhoun Honors College is endorsing any particular candidate or party. But we encourage you to attend one or more of these events-whether or not you support the candidate, and whether or not you're a Republican (the Democratic primary is uncontested, so don't expect President Obama to show up anytime soon). Campus visits by the candidates--who are accompanied by aides, security teams, and hordes of journalists--can be interesting, educational, and exciting. We'll also be planning a series of events centering on the election season, and extending from this semester to the fall. Watch your email and the Thursday newsletter for more details! Dr. Lasser

ACCESSING THE HOLMES HONORS CENTER PRINTER If you are newly admitted to Honors or have a new computer, you will need to download the NEW driver to print on the Holmes Honors Center printer. Install the Student Driver Package from http://www.clemson.edu/ccit/help_support/ printing_plotting/printer_install/index.html to your machine (PC or Mac). Restart your computer. When you send a job to print, choose "CCIT Lab Printers " as the printer destination in the print dialog box. To release your print job, swipe your ID card or enter your user name at the touch screen by the printer. (NOTE: If you previously downloaded an Honors Center printer driver, it should continue to work. I'm told you don't need to download the new driver as above.) REMINDER OF PRINTING LIMITS Please remember to limit your print jobs sent to the Honors Center printer to 25 pages. Any jobs larger than that should be printed at another lab printer. We will review printing reports each month beginning this semester, and remove any user who abuses the printer with excessive printing. Thanks for helping us maintain this great FREE resource. HELP KEEP HONORS CENTER CLEAN As Clemson has reallocated housekeeping resources across campus, there are fewer staff to serve the same number of buildings. All of us have been called on to do more than we ever have in keeping campus clean; faculty and staff now have to empty their office trash cans to a central trash bin, for example. We ask all Honors students to help keep the Holmes Honors Center safe, clean and healthy. The Center serves nearly 1200 Honors students, and hosts events for faculty, staff and prospective students and their families. The Honor Center should always be presentable. Review the guidelines for use here (http://www.clemson.edu/cuhonors/current-students/out-of-class/ Honors Study Abroad - attend one information session for both programs!
