PRODUCTION TITLE : GELATO PRODUCTION DATE : MARCH 7, 2012 - MARCH 10, 2012 PRODUCER : ROCHIELLE PILAR PARKES CO PRODUCER : RHEA LYN PARKES DIRECTOR : ROCHIELLE PILAR PARKES

1) Title of the film The title of the film is Gelato. A short film about a young, religious boy who is praying to God for ice cream, but an old woman overhears his prayer and is disgusted at his request. In the end, the tables are turned when it is the old woman who should have prayed for some ice cream. I have also enclosed the full script so that you are able to read it. 2) Subject matter of production A family short film about a British mother and son, who visit Italy for their holiday. The duration of the film is about 6-7 minutes long. This will be a bright and colourful film as it is looking through a childs perspective. The unique selling point of this film is that it looks at religion in a sweet, innocent way through the eyes of a child. There isnt many short films out there that Ive seen that looks at similar themes that this short film will be exploring. Brief Outline Of The Story A mother and her son; a 28 year old woman and their 6 year old child enters a restaurant for a meal. The little boy asks his mother if he could pray before their meal. The mother agrees and as they bow their heads down, the little boy says, "God is good. God is great. Thank you for the food we will eat, and God, I would thank you more if mummy gets me ice cream for dessert. Amen!" Amongst the laughter from the other customers around their table, the family overhears a woman's remark, "That's what's wrong with this country. Kids today don't even know how to pray. Asking God for ice cream! Why, I never!" After hearing the comment, the little boy bursts into tears and asks his parents, "Did I do it wrong? Is God angry at me?" The mother holds him in her arms and reassures him that he has done a terrific job and that God is not angry at him. An elderly man approaches their table and winks at the little boy, "I happen to know that God thought your prayer was great." "Really?" the little boy asked, wiping the tears away from his eyes. "Cross my heart," the man replied. Then in a theatrical whisper he added, looking at the woman who made the remark, "Too bad she nevers asks God for ice cream. A little ice cream is good for the soul sometimes." At the end of the meal, the mother buys her son the ice cream that he prayed for. The son stares at the dessert for a moment... He picks up his large bowl of chocolate and vanilla sundae and without a word, he walks over to the woman and placed it in front of her. With a big smile, he told her, "Here, this is for you. Ice cream is good for the soul sometimes, and my soul is good already."

Scene 2.1 - This will be shot somewhere in Piazza Tasso Square. Kate will stand in the side of the road looking at a map, whilst people are walking past her. Scene 2.2 - This will be shot around Corso Italia or Piasso Tasso. I want to see Charlie and Kate walking and looking at the shops/stalls, with all the colours and textures. They are enjoying being at Sorrento for their holiday. (I have attached the full script on the email) 10) Any intended requests for closure of public thoroughfares No, I plan to film the everyday life around Sorrento so I want the people to look as natural as possible. The production is very small scale and we will be using photography cameras to shoot the video. We wont be disturbing the regular activities around Sorrento, therefore I believe that we will not pose any threats to the public. There will be no traffic issues required. 11) Any other useful information or special requests Would it be okay to have a sign saying, Filming In Progress so that the local people and tourists are aware that we are filming? If they dont want to be filmed then they have a choice not to be filmed. I have film consent forms for any extras in the film so that they can be aware that their image will be a part of the final production. If you would like to see the consent forms, I have also attached it on the email.
