Implications of The Two Roles

Having two roles naturally creates divisions, conflict, competition And Fears

PM Fear about BA
BA collecting requirements without effective coordination, facilitation, or realistic deadline BA will create unrealistic expectations with stakeholders PM left out of the loop on critical meetings and conversation with sponsors and stakeholders BA dont have functional or technical knowledge to articulate requirements correctly

BA Fear about PM
PM is unwilling to fully investigate and analyse stakeholder needs PM doesnt understand the complexity of defining, analysing, and managing requirements PM sees the BA as an asistant PM moves after the end of the project, but BA stays and lives with the consequences

Conclusions
PMBok main focus is on project parameters BABok main focus is on solution parameters PMBok is not explicit about eliciting, analysing and documentating requirements BABok is not explicit about all project management activities

The PMBok and the BABok together are excellent PM and BA are necessary to archive project business value
