Caldwell, continues his tragedy tinged comedy from his first two entries by the Richmond Times, examines the disappeared characters, romances that seemed dead resolve themselves. "The Pig Goes to Hog Heaven" opens, a very-much-alive Declan returns to County Kerry. He, like Kitty and Kieran, sees the ghosts of Taddy and Brid -- and, now, the ghost of the original pig. Eventually, the identity of the skeleton and how he met his untimely end are revealed. Pig No. 1 has not left the scene of its death, either, and seems to have fallen in love with the cross-eyed pig, now a temporary guest at the castle. Irish to the core, it nevertheless speaks to all of humanity.

a playwright and a novelist. He twice held the John Golden Fellowship in Playwriting at Yale University's School of Drama, and was awarded The Rome Prize in Literature by the American Academy of Arts and Letters.
