FANTASY PLAYOFF RUN

The Packers should be primed to do their thing during the final weeks of the regular season. Theyll visit the Lions against whom they averaged 30 points last year in Week 14 and then visit the Patriots for a coldweather matchup. Then, in Week 16, the Giants come calling.

PACKERS
AN NFL TEAM INSIDER FIELDS KEY FANTASY QUESTIONS
Would Aaron Rodgers numbers go through the roof with any semblance of pass protection for a full season?

Rodgers put up some pretty impressive numbers in his second year as a starter. Yes, he was sacked a league-high 50 times (and five more times by the Cardinals in the playoffs), but the porous protection didnt adversely affect his production. The reality with Rodgers is that hes going to take more sacks than your average quarterback because hes brilliant at making plays with his feet. For fantasy purposes, thats not a Aaron Rodgers big deal. What is a big deal is what Rodgers gives you on the ground. Last season, he ran for 316 yards and five touchdowns. In some leagues, Rodgers was the No. 1 point producer because of what he added on the ground. Having made 33 straight starts (including playoffs), he has also proven to be durable, despite the pounding.
Is tight end Jermichael Finley poised for a breakout season such as Vernon Davis had in San Francisco last year?

Unless you followed the Packers closely, you probably didnt draft Finley last year. But he exploded as a situational receiver, notching 55 catches for 676 yards and five TDs in only 13 games. (He missed three games with a knee injury.) He has been promoted to the starting lineup, and coach Mike McCarthy promises hell play 55 to 60 snaps a game instead of 40 to 45. Assuming he stays healthy, he could put up a 1,000-yard season without taking too much away from productive wide receivers Greg Jennings and Donald Driver, who both surpassed 1,000 yards last season.

FANTASY FACT
Tight end JERMICHAEL FINLEY missed three games due to injury in 2009. His stats in the other 13 games had him on pace for 68 catches, 832 yards and six touchdowns.

FANTASY IMPACT: The Packers have few offensive concerns heading into this season, but the line was one area that needed to be addressed. Bulaga should help a unit that allowed a league-leading 51 sacks. Newhouse isnt as polished as Bulaga but has upside. Upgrading the line was huge for the Packers, who need to keep Aaron Rodgers off his back. Starks missed his senior season due to injury, but he could push Brandon Jackson for the No. 2 role.
