The project has been designed to promote childrens literacy as well as environmental awareness thru reading among grade school students. The competition also exposes our students to the latest trend in storytelling style of being relaxed, casual, interactive, fun and engaging. This helps them become more confident and positive in their outlook. The workshop will tackle about how to rewrite stories fit for storytelling and styles in picture storytelling. This is open to ages 10 to 13 or students in Grade 4 to Grade 7. You may send a maximum of three contestants. MECHANICS y y y Registration form can be obtained during orientation/workshop or be requested by e-mail through alitaptap.storytellers@yahoo.com. The coach (only) of each participating student will be given a workshop after registering their contestant in the competition. The registration fee is worth PhP 500.00. The fee covers the one day book-based storytelling workshop (for the coaches) and elimination program. The fee shall be used to defray the cost of mounting the competition. Certificates will be issued to the contestants and coaches. There will only be a maximum of thirty (30) contestants who can participate in the competition. All participating students shall be required to present a valid ID and registration form during the registration to avoid technical conflict after the competition. The workshop topic will tackle about story rewriting and picture storytelling. The books to be read will be provided by the organizer or will be notified if there are other materials that can be performed. They should be validated by the organizer thru text or call. The piece should not exceed 10 minutes, but the contestant will be instructed to finish their piece. Points would be deducted from overall score (5 points per minute). Contestants must adhere to the book-based storytelling style and technique. (Thus, the storytelling workshop is imperative)
