Ian Thorpe is the most successful athletes in Australia. He is a swimmer born in Sydney. Ian won five Olympia Gold medals and made 13 world records. How and why he becomes famous: Ian Thorpe discovered the sport trough his sister. Because he has chlorine allergy, Ian must keep his head over water so he becomes a great swimmer from young. When he was 12 he trained two times a day, six days a week. With 13 he won the National Junior Championship. Ian won a lot of competitions. Also he joined at the Olympic Games in Sydney and Athena and was successful, too. He was so famous because he started his career with 12 years and finished with the age of 24, because of illness.

AC/DC is an Australian hard-rock band which is found from the brothers Angus McKinnon Young, Malcolm Young and George Young. How and why they become famous: George Young played guitar and was the example for his two brothers. They started playing guitar, too. In the November 1973 the band was found by Malcolm and Angus Young. The band obligated the drummer Colin Burgess, the bass player Larry Van Kriedt and the singer Dave Evans. The sister got the idea for the band when she looked on the sewing machine. There was the label AC/DC(Alternating Current/Direct Current) The first appearance found place on a New Year's Eve night in the night club Chequers. In February 1974 the first single Can I Sit Next to You Girl? /Rockin' in the Parlourwith the singer Dave Evans was recorded. In the same year the single appeared on 22.July in Australia and New Zealand. Also they become famous for their character. For example Young played guitar with a school uniform or they played during laying on the bottom the guitar.

How and why she becomes famous: She studied Fine Arts at the University of Melbourne. After her study she worked at the theatre and in Australian TV-Shows. Her first movie was 1997 called Paradise Road. She became famous 1998 when she was nominated for the Oscar with her movie Elizabeth. She acted 2001 in the movie The Lord of the Rings. She got her first Oscar in the movie Aviator for the best actress. In 2008 she played in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull a Russian agent. In December 2008 she got a star on the Walk of Fame in Hollywood.
