Church Council
The first church council meeting for 2012 will be on Wednesday, February 15th at 6:30 p.m. at Aurora.

Installation of Church Officers

Installation of church officers at Aurora & Trinity will be during the communion worship service on Sunday, February 5th.

Food Shelf Sunday at Aurora

The next food shelf Sunday at Aurora will be on Sunday, February 5th. Please give to help those who are less fortunate.

Lenten Offering Folders

The Lenten Offering Folders will be available at both Aurora & Trinity on Sunday, February 19th from the ushers. Please pick yours up. If you need one, please contact Pastor Jon or Kayla Paape. Fill the folders & turn them in by Easter Sunday, April 8th.

Family Movie Night for Aurora & Trinity

Starting at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, February 3rd, come with the family and enjoy an evening watching a movie with popcorn, cookies, and pop, all for 25 per person. Everyone, young and old, is invited to attend!

Lenten Season
The 2012 Lenten Season begins with Ash Wednesday on February 22nd. The Joint Soup Supper and Worship Service will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Aurora. Other services will be as follows: Aurora: 6:00 p.m. Soup Supper 6:45 p.m. Lenten Worship Service Trinity: 7:00 p.m. Coffee Hour 7:45 p.m. Lenten Worship Service Please note: The Joint Soup Supper and Lenten Worship Service at Trinity will be on Wednesday, March 21st.

Aurora WELCA News

There will be a Continental Breakfast and WELCA meeting starting at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 4th. Following the business meeting we will organize Auroras photo album. Everyone is encouraged to bring photos of their Aurora memories. The coordinator for this is, Jodi Keck. The hostesses for the breakfast are: JoAnn Nelson, Jerianne Hendricks, and Jessica Walerius.

Friday Game Night

Need a night out! Come and enjoy an adult social night on Friday, February 10th starting at 6:30 p.m. at Aurora. Bring a game that you want to have fun playing with others and a snack to share. Parents, daycare will be provided by the Luther League.

Events/Activities
Are you or your child(ren) involved or will be involved in any events or activities throughout the year? Please let Pastor Jon know. He would like to come out to support you at the event!

Young Adult Group

The Aurora/Trinity Young Adult Group will be going bowling on Friday, February 17th, at 7:00 p.m. at SouthPark Lanes. Young Adult Group offers a way to stay connected to what really matters -faith, family, friends, fellowship--through the unique perspectives of young men and women just like you. Feel free to invite friends!

Aurora Nursery
Do you have a little one and find yourself paying more attention to them instead of the church service? When you get home do you ever think, What did the minister say today? Bonnie Johnson is willing to staff a nursery for babies through 4 years old every second Sunday of the month. This way you can enjoy the service and your little one is happy too. Bonnie will be available in the preschool/kindergarten room in the basement of the church.

Aurora Sunday School

Mark your calendars. The Aurora Sunday School students will be singing during the worship service on Sunday, February 26th.

Moving or Change of Address???

If you are moving, please be sure to notify, Kayla Paape, Church Secretary, with your new address and phone information. Did you know that we have a service request on our mail? That means if we arent notified of an address change, the mail is returned to the church for a cost of 50 to $1.09. Please help keep costs down and keep your information current.

Pastor Jons Message

February 2012 Over the past couple of weeks, it has been a lot of fun to talk about Scripture and how we make sense of it in our weekly book study on Monday nights. We have discussed such topics as What is Scripture?, Is the Bible True?, How is the Bible the Word of God?, and Where did the Bible Come From? If you would like to follow along with what we are learning, you can find summaries posted on the website (http://auroratrinitylutheran.org). As we move into Wednesday night services for Lent, I thought it might be fun for us to continue our discovery of Scripture by learning five biblical stories that many of us dont know. It is probably for good reason that we dont know them because these stories are.strange. They are not your typical bible story that you would read to your children at night. At the same time, they are quite funny! During these weeks, we will seek to discover what these unusual stories tell us about who God is and who we are as Gods people. Please come and join us on Wednesday evenings for worship and for Strange Stories of Scripture.
