Service Families Support Group Spotlight on soldiers charities : First of all I would like to say a moosive thank you for the fabmoolous welcome I have received. As you all read this I will be bound for the sands, unfortunately I wont be sipping mooneral water with my hoofs up we couldnt talk the RAF into boosting me up to business class so cargo it moost be!! I have to admit Im a moo bit terrified being taken to market is nothing in comparison to this!! I have heard some distressing things about those rat packs especially the contents of the spaghetti bolognaise I do hope I dont get served our Daisy . On the udder hand as Im sat surrounded by all of the wonderful parcels and blueys destined for our heroes I know that Ill be filled with pride and excitement as I will get to meet some of the most amazing and courageous people. Ill keep you all updated with photographs and you can read more about my travels in next moonths newsletter. ... With all the cuts the government are making, and plan to make, our forces past and present need our help more than ever. Soldiers off the Streets is one of the worthwhile charities who helps ex-servicemen and women who have fallen on hard times. Along with the Veterans Charity they extend a helping hand to offer food, clothing & shelter where they can.

ABF. The soldiers Charity also helps, serving, retired and veterans including their families where they need help, support and sometimes ... a hand up...
These are just a few who need our support. We can ALL help in many ways, if we each give 1.00 look how much they would receive. Other fun ways to get involved, Charity auctions, Fetes, coffee mornings and even a % of your ebay sales. Lets not forget what these service personnel have given up, lost and sacrificed for us. They gave a lifetime for us.. lets at least give them an hour of our time to give them a hand up! Soldiers off the street

Requests from the sands Dont forget peeps theres a problem with some greedy furry bandits who want to share in the goodies that have been sent out so if possible when sending your packages could you include plastic containers, tins & traps so the little critters dont get to their treats!! From reports its also nippy at night so gloves, hand warmers, thermal socks etc. would be appreciated.

With many thanks, great respect and appreciation Mark Ormrod, has kindly agreed and given us permission to print an extract from his awe inspiring book Man Down. There was a massive bang. I dont know if I was thrown up in the air or what. I just remember seeing a big black cloud of smoke to my left and sand and stone and gravel to the right. I seemed to be looking down on the ground from above and thought to myself, What the f**k am I doing up here? The next thing the smoke was gone and I was on the deck again. On my back. The sky was blue crystal. My brain was rattling around my head. It took a few seconds to remember what I was supposed to be doing. We were on patrol. We were on the top of a hill in a shallow dip shaped like a bowl near a rock landmark the lads called North Fort. I was in charge of half of our section, me and three men. Each of us had an arc to cover. There were no Taliban around but there could be any second. We had to protect ourselves and cover another patrol that was due to cross the ground below us about 200 metres to our front. A sh**load was going on in my head. I didnt have a clue what had happened. I was just thinking quick time what to do now. What do I do now? Initially I thought Id been hit by a rocket or mortar, that it had impacted on the wall of the bowl behind me and knocked me on my ar*e. That meant the Taliban were close after all. I tried to turn around and get into the firing position Id chosen and realized I couldnt move. Why cant I move, whats happened to me? I looked down to where my legs should be. Theyd gone.
