UNITED DEFENSE SELECTS APPLIED DYNAMICS INTERNATIONAL AS A 1999 CRUSADER OUTSTANDING SUPPLIER
Ann Arbor, Mich., Applied Dynamics International (ADI) is pleased to announce that United Defense has selected ADI as a Crusader 1999 Outstanding Supplier. UDLP presented the award to John McIntosh, President and CEO of ADI, at a recognition ceremony in Minneapolis, Minnesota. ADI has been a supplier to United Defense since 1997, providing the Emulator systems to UDLP in support of the Crusader System. These systems are critical to successful hardware and software integration on the Crusader Program. UDLP is the prime contractor to the US Army for the Crusader, a two-vehicle armament system comprised of a self-propelled battlefield vehicle and a resupply vehicle. ADIs significant contributions to the Crusader program in 1999 included on-site training and on-going technical assistance for and maintenance of 36 emulator systems. In early 1999, when it became apparent that timely delivery of the Self-propelled Howitzer#1 (SPH1) was in jeopardy, ADI worked with United Defense to devise an alternative SPH1 control approach using Matrix X algorithms and a network of repackaged emulators, said Dave DeKing, of UDLP. The use of the emulators to control SPH1 has been highly effective, evidenced by on-time delivery of SPH1 to Yuma Proving Ground in January 2000 and subsequent successful firing tests. United Defense recognized that ADIs management and technical personnel have been very flexible in meeting changing requirements in a timely fashion and has shown a consistent willingness to go the extra mile in defining and implementing solutions to technical problems ensuring Crusader Program needs are met. In addition, Mr. DeKing explains, ADIs responsiveness and commitment to their customer consistently go beyond the level of acceptable performance. ADI staff is friendly, courteous, and highly responsive. This small business has distinguished itself through its high level of commitment to the Crusader Program. Applied Dynamics has repeatedly achieved or surpassed the expectations set by United Defense for its subcontract deliverables and milestones. ADIs continuous high level of professionalism, commitment to excellence, and can do attitude and willingness to work as a true member of Team Crusader have proven invaluable to the Electronics Integration and Modeling/Simulation teams they support. John McIntosh, in his remarks accepting the award on behalf of Applied Dynamics, drew a parallel between his experience in the 1960s as Apollo Mission Simulator Program Manager and the ADI contributions Crusader program. The fidelity of that simulation was a vital contributor to the success of a man landing on t

the moon and returning safely. The fidelity of real time, hardware in the loop simulation for Crusader is similarly responsible for program success. I could not be more proud then I am at this moment, to represent the engineers, technicians and Crusader program employees at ADI who did so much to achieve required deliveries and to ensure an exceptional level of post delivery support to United Defense. Applied Dynamics International provides hardware, software, and engineering services for embedded software developers and control system engineers. Since 1957, ADI real-time computer systems have been used extensively in advanced control system applications in the aerospace, defense, training and automotive industries. ###
