Michael Kelly I have been using a variety of media with collage to record my sub-conscious, emotional engagement with sacred

objects and spaces. I then aimed to understand how this psychological effect could be achieved. For instance, ways a changing arrangement, scale, and repetition of objects can create spaces from which we translate to ourselves the experience of our own bodies, anticipate the intentions of others, and which finally take on the quality of a barely apprehended observer. I then tried to use this to create a transparently artificial sacred presence; one that betrays its methods in the act of performing its psychological function. While my aim was to demystify the sacred objects and spaces I encounter, I do not aim to devalue them. I instead want to help realise their value anew, by helping a declining dualist tradition adapt to the materialist one now in ascendancy.
