Betsy S. Powell, Editor

(This newsletter contains Three Months of News - February/March/April)

We will be going to the History Center on Friday, February 17th at 1:30 p.m. for a "behind the scenes" tour. The tour takes about an hour and the cost is $3 (this is a $1 discount for a group tour of 10 or more). If you are interested in viewing the process of how things are stored, what is stored and many other gems of information let your caller know and callers let Pat Adkins (484.2603) know by Tuesday, February 14th how many of your group is participating. You may invite others if you like. We will meet at 12:45 p.m. for lunch at Gibby's. March Dinner/Theatre at Capital Plaza Hotel On Saturday, March 17th at 2:00 p.m. we will attend a play by the Bluegrass Theatre group of Frankfort. The play is Rehearsal for Murder and is a play within a play. There are 15 actors involved. The cost is $25.00. The menu is not set at this time but I'm told it will probably be chicken. Callers call Joyce Wood (227.2116) with the number of people interested. To get better seats we should have the money to Joyce by March 1st. Mail checks to Joyce Wood, 1210 Leathers Lane, Frankfort, KY 40601. Make checks payable to Bluegrass Theatre. For more information you can go to www.bluegrasstheatregild.com. February Birthdays Eugene Troedel - 2; Fred Wood - 13; Betsy Powell -15; Jan Wahrer - 17; Sammie Hankins - 23 March Birthdays Polly Green - 7; Betty Harris - 16; Anita Harrod - 20; Agnes Howell - 23; Jeannetta Sacre 29 April - No Birthdays Awesome evening at the VFW in January The food, as usual, was scrumptious and plenty for seconds. But, the main event enjoyed by all was the talk that good friend Paulette Childers gave on something that happened in her young life in Belgium. Paulette and her mother helped three American soldiers escape capture by the Germans. She had much more to say but this was the main story for me. Paulette has talked to several groups in the community and if you missed this one catch her at another event. We had 31 attend. Members attending were: Kathy Ammerman, Pat Adkins, Alice Chrisman, Ruth Cox, Delores Dearborn, Sammie Hankins, Marcella Harrod, Richard Harter, Agnes Howell, Gladys Hutcherson, Bill Landeck,

Sophia McHargue, Ann Merchant, Katherine Nash, Roxie Pike, Betsy Powell, Anna Lois Robertson, Betty Smither, Joyce Sturgill, Eugene Troedel, Jan Wahrer, Marlene Wells, Joyce Wood and Rita Young. Guests include: Teresa Daniels, Judy Goodman, Jonille Darbyshire, Janie Holcomb, Debbie Kegley, Marilyn LeBoyrufay and Paulette. Out and About Shirley Booze became dehydrated which caused problems with her kidneys and she ended up in the hospital. She was taking so much heart medicine that she didnt want to eat or drink. I am glad to report she is better. Lorraine Miller was scheduled for cataract surgery on our meeting date of January 20 so she missed coming. I hope all went well for you Lorraine. We missed you! Fred Wood had emergency eye surgery on January 20. He is one lucky fellow! Hes home doing o.k. and getting 12-15 drops a day in his eye. Lucky for Fred his daughter-in-law is a nurse and saw that he got the help he needed in a timely manner. Agnes Howell and Eddie Coleman went to Florida January 29 through February 9 to visit her sister and brother-in-law who spend the winters in Daytona. Rita Young is ALWAYS on the go. Her cruise left on January 21 but she still made our meeting on January 20. This and That Remember, if you know people who are interested in becoming a member of the GoodTimers tell them all they need to do is get six (6 or more) self-addressed (return address also on envelope), stamped (45 cents now) envelopes to Wilma Yeary. Movies at Crestwood Baptist Church: two brothers, Stephen and Alex Kendrick, are deemed the heart of Sherwood Productions, with Jesus being the soul. I encourage you to attend the free movies coming up. They start at 6:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of the church. Showing February 5th is Facing the Giants and February 12th is Fireproof. Inner Peace
If you can start the day without caffeine, If you can always be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains, If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles, If you can eat the same food every day and be grateful for it, If you can take criticism and blame without resentment, If you can conquer tension without medical help, If you can relax without alcohol, If you can sleep without the aid of drugs, Then you are probably. THE FAMILY DOG!
