y 15, 2011, 07:26:47 AM Member Download and install winrar on your home PC. You can find it here http://www.win-rar.com/download.html Posts: 657 Download the latest apads.com.au android firmware image from here http://apads.com.au/forum/index.php?board=52.0 NOTE: The top pinned firmware is always the latest one we recommend for your M7/M7+. . Create a new folder/directory on your PC. Call it M7-firmware. Open the above .rar file you downloaded using winrar which you downloaded in the first step. Use winrar to extract the files in the rar file to the directory you created in the previous step. The files listed in the M7-firmware directory should be something like this (they will vary slightly from firmware to firmware): board.713.tgz u-boot.bin utscript utv210_root.tgz zImage.debug logo.bmp recovery u-boot-sd.bin utscript_sd utv210_userdata.tgz

u-boot-sd.bin.mid703v3.mm utscript.sh zImage

Format a blank sdcard (preferably a small one) under windows. Use FAT32. Make sure the SDCARD is newly formatted and blank. Copy all the files from the M7-firmware directory to the blank SDCARD. WARNING WARNING - DO NOT PROCEED UNTIL YOU VERIFY ALL FILES ON THE SDCARD ARE NOT EMPTY. IF YOU DO A LISTING OF FILES AND ANY FILES ARE LISTING with 0 size DO NOT PROCEED. ALSO DOUBLE CHECK YOU SAFELY UNMOUNT THE SDCARD OTHERWISE THE FILES COULD BE CORRUPT. Insert the SDCARD into the external SDCARD slot of your M7, M7+, or M7+ +. Note the writing on the card will face down not up when you insert. Now turn the right edge power slider switch to the up position so your device is off, then slide back down to the on position. There are three buttons on the top edge of the M7/M7+. Hold the left and middle buttons down together to

commence the firmware install. THIS IS IMPORTANT. DO NOT POWER OFF YOUR M7/M7+ whilst this process is completing. When it's finished the device will turn off automatically. Now simply hold the top left power button down again to start your device with the new firmware installed. This is the same process you will have to complete when we issue you with firmware updates (I.e the 2.3 updates as we make it more stable and implement more features). Please login occasionally to our forum to check if there are new firmwares. Type the following in your browser to view the firmware section for your device. http://apads.com.au/forum/index.php?board=52.0 Last Edit: June 10, 2011, 02:21:33 PM by aero7373 LukC Newbie Posts: 17 Re: FIRMWARE UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS Reply #1 on: May 16, 2011, 07:19:09 PM Quote from: aero7373 on May 15, 2011, 07:26:47 AM Format a blank sdcard (preferably a small one) under windows. If so, then if something goes wrong I will probably have to pay to get it fixed, unlike the 'official' firmware - according to Chris? cheers, Paul Logged

Re: FIRMWARE UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS Reply #6 on: July 01, 2011, 01:44:46 PM Hi Guys, I do have problem in my M7+ HIPAD and i really need help, 3 weeks ago i

tried to install firmware to fix the volume bottoms but didnt work. Now when i turn my device on it just display a message ( Upgrade System Activated) and then the Penguin picture. Can any one tell me how I can get back to use my HIPAD without getting the Penguin picture. Thanks Logged aero7373 Re: FIRMWARE UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS Administrator Reply #7 on: July 01, 2011, 02:22:17 PM Hero Hello, Member Download the HP format tool LukC mentions above. http://files.extremeoverclocking.com/file.php?f=197 Posts: 657 Use it to format an SDCARD. Then follow the update instructions we provide in order to extra the files, copy them to sdcard and use that card to update. Let us know how you go. You mentioned in a PM you needed an 8GB sdcard. If you need an 8GB card just buy one and I can put the latest firmware on it before sending to you (or you can pickup from me and we can resolve your problem at the same time). Sorry i'm a noob when it comes to Android. I have only had my tablet for a couple of weeks but i'm lovin it, only thing I want to change is the lack of volume control buttons - hence the required root access. I've updated the firmware to the latest version in the Official firmware thread and WOW super fast and stable. I had rolled back to 2.2 due to buggy issues in earlier factory loaded 2.3. Cheers Mick.

It's rootable, so just use GingerBreak 1.2 apk, and it will rook the tablet Logged mickapad Newbie Posts: 8 Re: New firmware 19/5 Reply #6 on: May 26, 2011, 05:12:59 PM Thanks LukeC. Worked like a charm and I now have soft buttons for volume control, so now i can adjust Angry birds without exiting!! Re: New firmware 19/5 Reply #8 on: May 26, 2011, 09:07:55 PM Hi stezo69, This is what I did, it worked for my M7++ but I take no responsibility for what it might do to your tablet. I updated my firmware to LukeC's firmware using the Update Firmware instructions on this forum. I then googled Ginger break apk (thanks to LukeC for that as well) and installed that on my tablet using Apkinstaller. Run the Ginger Break app and follow the instructions. Once you have "rooted" the tablet install Softkeys from app market - open the app and allow it to have root access when prompted. Now configure the soft keys to your own liking. Note: I couldnt get my soft keys to work until i took the tick out of the Draggable Popper option. Softkeys seem a bit buggy while setting up - random crashes and restarts of app but once configured runs fine. An article worth reading regarding rooting. http://androidandme.com/2009/09/hacks/why-not-everyone-should-root-theirandroid-phones/ Only do this if you understand the risks associated with rooting your tablet.
