IN SURGERY ROYAL COLLEGE OF SURGEONS OF ENGLAND Clinical students at a UK Med School wishing to pursue a career in surgery and planning to undertake their elective attachment in Surgery in the DEVELOPING WORLD during 2010/11 Academic Year are eligible to apply for this Prize. Each Award is worth up to 500 and at least 4 will be awarded, to be undertaken during 2010/11 Academic Year (Sep 2010 August 2011). HOW TO APPLY: There are NO application forms or further details - those students wishing to apply should send SIX copies of the following: CV A4 typed sheet detailing your project and what you hope to achieve. Letter of support from Prof of Surgery or Dean of Medical School. Letter of support from the Consultant Surgeon where the elective attachment will be undertaken confirming supervision of the project. CLOSING DATE: 1st June 2010 THE ROYAL COLLEGE OF PHYSICIANS OF EDINBURGH: MYRE SIM STUDENT BURSARIES Applications are invited from medical students for a limited number of bursaries of up to 750. A bursary is intended to contribute towards the expenses of an 8 week elective period of study and research, either in the UK or overseas, during an attachment with aphysician holding a non-academic post. EDWARD BOYLE MEMBORIAL TRUST ELECTIVE BURSARY 2010:

CLOSING DATE: 15th January 2010 The Edward Boyle Memorial Trust is offering medical elective bursaries to senior med students from UK medical faculties/schools, to assist them to spend their elective period in a developing country within the Commonwealth. VALUE & TENURE Edward Boyle Bursaries have a maximum value of 500; they are offered for tenure at any time between 1st May 2011 and 31st May 2012. Their purpose is to enable medical students in Britain to gain, during their elective period, practical experience in developing Commonweatlth countries (particularly those that are Least DEeveloped or Specially disadvantaged) and, by doing so, to help understaffed hospitals in those countries. The Bursaries are intended to cover part of the students travel, subsistence and local costs, and payment will be made directly to the student selected. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Applications must be submitted in the first instance to me at the College Office and NOT to the Association of Commonwealth Universities. After considering applications, each College may recommend not more than ONE candidate. The BMDA was established in the 1960s with the objective of giving financial assistance to medical and dental students studying in the UK and undertaking their elective period overseas. The Trust is financed by donations from sponsors who include pharmaceutical companies and defence organisations. Awards are made twice a year and are usually between 100 and 600, dependent on the quality of applications. Closing dates for applications are as follows:31 January for electives from April to September 31 July for electives from October to March Applications are welcome from all students, including overseas.
