John Moses Browning was born on 23 January 1855, in Ogden, 35 miles north of Salt Lake City (Utah, USA), between the Great Salt Lake and the Wasatch-Cache National Forest. Gun-making ran in the family of the young John Moses, as his father was a gunsmith who had already been responsible for a number of innovations in the field. As a young boy, he spent time in his fathers workshop, and knew the name of every part of a gun before he could read. From the age of 6, he made fishing accessories from scraps of metal which he hammered into shape on a child-sized work bench made from a wooden crate. His 19th-Century American boyhood abounds with anecdotes, all of which point towards him becoming an internationally renowned genius inventor. It didnt take long for those who had observed his creative traits to make up their minds: at the age of just 23, John Moses lodged his first patent, for the John Moses Browning Single Shot Rifle. This invention simplified the percussion mechanism, making it more durable and reliable. Shortly before his death, his father handed over his business to John Moses. With his brother Matt, even with less than one thousand dollars in the bank and no experience of machine-tool operation, young Browning transformed the humble store into a small gun making workshop with seven employees. The remoteness of their store, the low number of ready customers, and the lack of capital meant that the business struggled to survive until luck intervened to make the inventors talents known to a connoisseur: a representative from Winchester. In another state in the US, this representative had come across a gun made by the Browning brothers. Firmly convinced of the interest of their conception, he bought it from its owner and sent it to his superiors in the companys head office. So impressed were they that the managing director of Winchester himself set out straight away on a six-day journey to what, at that time, was still the Wild West - the real Wild West, to meet the Browning brothers. Despite his astonishment at finding two young men in their twenties in a rustic workshop, the man was perceptive enough not to be fooled by appearances and signed commercial deals with them as soon as he could. The decision was a wise one: these agreements would last for several decades. Browning had a future. Over the years, Browning granted licenses to several manufacturers for dozens of inventions and firearms. He invented almost everything in the field of firearms. The creativity and level of perfection of his inventions were so significant that the vast majority of his technological innovations could not be improved upon or replaced for several years. The world of firearms is like the art world: the success of creators depends on the interest of wellinformed amateurs. In 1897, it was one of the directors of the Fabrique Nationale (National Weapons Factory) at Herstal in Belgium, who noticed a 7.65 Browning pistol incorporating a new locking mechanism. He saw the appeal straight away and the NWF obtained the manufacturing license. Thus began an uninterrupted period of collaboration between the inventor from the Great Salt Lake and the factory on the banks of the Meuse River. Browning reached the pinnacle of its craft with the Auto-5 semiautomatic shotgun, which was a tremendous commercial success and prompted John Moses first visit to the Herstal workshops. But his world-wide acclaim is without doubt due to the 9 mm Hi-Power semi-automatic pistol. More than 10 million of these legendary pistols have been sold. Starting in 1907, it was adopted by most police and armed forces across the world. The fact that the generic name for this type of gun is Browning demonstrates the universal acclaim and recognition it has received. Brownings success is not at all the result of chance. Like all American pioneers of that time, he turned luck to his advantage only through an enormous amount of hard work. His strength of character and the steadfastness of his principles were out of the ordinary. Thus it was that, towards the end of his life, when offered an honorary title by a university, he refused it for the simple reason that he had made it a rule never to accept anything that he had not earned as a result of his own work. In 1925, John Moses Browning put the finishing touches on the prototype of an Over and Under which would change the history of the hunting shotgun. He called it simply B25, for Browning 1925. He died of a heart attack while working in his office in Herstal on 26 November 1926. It was his 61st visit to Belgium. His body was repatriated to the United States, where he was buried with full military honours. His son Val continued his collaboration with the Belgian factory without interruption. That collaboration continues to this very day.

Description of new products

Before they are put on the market, Brownings guns have to undergo various extremely rigorous tests. These are B.A.C.O. (Browning Arms Company) internal tests.

The purpose of these highly-demanding tests, which are conducted on both shotguns and rifles, is to ensure they operate correctly whatever types of cartridges are used. Thousands of cartridges are therefore fired to ensure the guns reliability; no broken or excessively worn parts are tolerated during this test. If such faults are found, they are returned on a systematic basis to Research and Development.
Tests in extreme conditions
None of its products will be approved unless it clearly meets the following 6 requirements.
When developing a new product, the purpose of this test is to try out the guns in the worst possible weather conditions, using polar temperatures of 30C and very high temperatures of up to +50C. The gun has to operate perfectly at these temperatures, using a wide range of cartridges. You can therefore use our guns in the most testing conditions, in all circumstances and with complete confidence.
Torture tests
When a new product is being developed, it undergoes a wide variety of tests, which are generally more demanding than applicable C.I.P. norms, including a set of torture tests. A set of guns are subjected to excessive pressure tests and obstruction tests to ensure the strength and reliability of our guns. In addition, we conduct safety tests, which consist of dropping the gun onto its different sides to check its reliability and safety. The legendary strength and reliability of Brownings guns is largely due to their completing all these tests successfully.
In addition, we carry out a systematic inspection process of all mass-produced guns, which involves a great many checks to ensure that every gun sold meets Brownings criteria with regard to quality, performance and reliability.

Gun checks
When they are manufactured, every gun is subject to a very wide variety of visual inspections and measurements, and has to meet the requirements of the specifications in every respect.
Gun tests
All guns manufactured are fired to ensure their precision and that they are operating properly.
Accuracy tests
We check the precision of every gun which emerges from our workshops. For shotguns, we check the quality of the shot patterns as well as the proper convergence of the barrels at 35 metres. For rifles, we check the precision and pattern of every gun.

This much appreciated model is generally configured with long barrels and a wide ventilated rib fitted with a mid bead-sight.

The new B725 has a low action frame, which combines all the qualities of reliability and long-life possessed by all Browning Over and Under shotguns. The action frame has a lower and more compact profile than most other Over and Under shotguns. The low action frame provides the following benefits when shooting by: - Enabling faster aiming and therefore more instinctive shooting.Reducing muzzle flip due to the frames inline recoil providing a more comfortable shooting position, making it highly manoeuvrable and effective when shooting. - The B725 is the only Over and Under gun that combines the reliability and legendary sturdiness of Browning Over and Under guns, thanks to its wide, flat bolt, a unique hinge pin and wide recoil surfaces, all combined with a low action frame. The new Invector DS chokes provide unrivalled performance by providing an optimal length of 80mm, an exclusive internal shape and a patented gas seal segment. The optimal 80 mm length enables an exclusive internal shape to be developed, which optimises performances over all shooting distances and ensures a uniform concentration of the shot pattern when using lead or steel shot. The new patented Invector DS (Double Seal) Chokes offer a double seal. They are fitted with a compression ring that limits penetration of combustion gas between the choke and barrel. The thread on the muzzle side forms an obstacle to prevent exhaust gasses from entering. The ring stops the Invector DS from unscrewing when firing. This guarantees that the choke stays clean and is easy to remove under any conditions.

The B725 has an improved mechanical firing system, allowing the shooter to really feel the shot as the trigger is pulled, which makes for a great feel. These new firing system is shorter, faster and lighter giving more control over your shooting. Brownings innovative mechanical firing system provides great ease of use for hunters and shooters, guaranteeing that a second shot can be fired whatever the circumstance. Even if you only have one cartridge in your gun, you will still be able to fire, which is not the case with an inertial system.

Inflex II recoil pad

A totally new Inflex II recoil pad is fitted on all B725 shotguns as standard. This ultra flexible recoil pad provides the best recoil absorption possible on a shotgun. This exclusive material makes shouldering easier. Two other pads, 20 or 25 mm thick (available on option), make it easy to adjust the length of your stock. In this way, you can adapt your B725 to your own morphology and also adapt it depending on the hunting season. Furthermore, these exclusively designed pads, 20 or 25 mm thick, generate a downward movement of the stock when firing, moving it away from the shooters cheek, and giving incomparable comfort when firing. Hand fitted to create the best there is
The gun moves from one gunsmith to the next to be entirely made by hand, thanks to the expertise acquired over many years by each of the gunsmiths. This is the only shotgun on the market at this price level that is hand fitted during production to such a high performance level, making each shotgun truly unique. Fitting important parts (barrel, action frame, fore-cud and iron) is done by hand using traditional methods (such as red ochre) so as to make the Browning B525 the reference in shotguns. The Maxus is equipped with a Cut off for the magazine to allow the shooter to unload the chamber easily, and thus change the type of shell without having to chamber a shell from the magazine.

The Power Drive Gas System uses larger escape valves to remove gas more quickly with heavy loads. A brand new patented design for an integrated valve keeps residue outside the mechanism for cleaner functioning. The principle of the Back-bored barrel is to increase the diameter of the barrels bore by a standard value, from 18.4 to 18.8 mm. Increasing the barrel bore diameter offers three benefits: Thanks to the Back-bored technology there is less friction between the shot load and the walls of the barrel. Instead of needing to overcome friction, powder combustion gasses can devote more energy to propelling the cartridge wad, which results in higher load speed and greater shot penetration. This also applies to greased wads.
2. Better shot patterns
With less friction on the barrel walls, the amount of shot not deformed on firing is greater, which enables it to keep its ballistic qualities. As ballistic qualities are conserved, you will obtain exceptionally regular impacts with much more shot that effectively hits your target.
One competitors gun alone offers good shot-pattern efficiency, but the pattern itself is much less efficient due to the numerous empty zones in the target area.
3. less recoil
In a Back-bored barrel, the shot load travels through more easily and, for this reason, the shooter feels less recoil. Our Research and Development department has measured a reduction in recoil of 6%.

In its permanent concern for improvement, Browning regularly tests its own products by comparing them with other guns on the market. Our tests show that the chokes on other guns provide good performances but their shot pattern is by no means perfect and therefore lead-shot tiering is not as perfect as with Browning. Adjustable Invector-Plus and Invector DS chokes have been specially developed by our Research and Development Department for our Back-bored barrel system. They have been designed to obtain a perfect target at different shooting distances.

Our objective is: Shot pattern efficiency of 80% on target, i.e. 80% of the shot contained in the cartridge must be in a target area inside a diameter of 75 cm. A perfect shot pattern: the shot pattern must be such that there is a minimum number of empty areas, i.e. areas in the target surface where there are no shot impacts.

the manual cocking system lets you literally cock your rifle, by moving the arming plunger forwards, which puts the hammer springs under load. Your gun is now ready to fire.
When hunting and at your firing station, you can feed a cartridge into the chamber of your gun and then use the manual cocking system for putting the cocking plunger in the uncocked position. Your rifle is now safe. When you want to fire, you just have to push the plunger forwards. Your rifle is now ready and all that you still need to do is to squeeze the trigger. The barrel assembly, the essential part of this gun, is both classical and innovative. A spacer ring placed on the upper barrel ensures the precision of the vertical convergence of the barrels, while the lateral convergence is ensured by the design of the barrel itself, which incorporates a unique "cradle" strip. The BOSS system has two main advantages: Improvement of accuracy: the BOSS system allows the bullet to leave the barrel at the ideal moment, i.e., at the "peak" or "valley" of the vibration wave when the muzzle is virtually motionless. Recoil reduction: air vents located all around the circumference of the BOSS system serve as a muzzle brake by diverting the combustion gas. The result is a recoil reduction of around 30-50% depending on the calibre and, therefore, excellent shooting comfort.

The new B725 has a low action frame, which combines all the qualities of reliability and long-life possessed by all Browning Over and Under shotguns. The action frame has a lower and more compact profile than most other Over and Under shotguns. The low action frame provides the following benefits when shooting by: - Enabling faster aiming and therefore more instinctive shooting. Reducing muzzle flip due to the frames inline recoil providing a more comfortable shooting position, making it highly manoeuvrable and effective when shooting. - The B725 is the only Over and Under gun that combines the reliability and legendary sturdiness of Browning Over and Under guns, thanks to its wide, flat bolt, a unique hinge pin and wide recoil surfaces, all combined with a low action frame. The new Invector DS chokes provide unrivalled performance by providing an optimal length of 80mm, an exclusive internal shape and a patented gas seal segment. The optimal 80 mm length enables an exclusive internal shape to be developed, which optimises performances over all shooting distances and ensures a uniform concentration of the shot pattern when using lead or steel shot. The new patented Invector DS (Double Seal) Chokes offer a double seal. They are fitted with a compression ring that limits penetration of combustion gas between the choke and barrel. The thread on the muzzle side forms an obstacle to prevent exhaust gasses from entering. The ring stops the Invector DS from unscrewing when firing. This guarantees that the choke stays clean and is easy to remove under any conditions.

The B725 has an improved mechanical firing system, allowing the shooter to really feel the shot as the trigger is pulled, which makes for a great feel. These new firing system is shorter, faster and lighter giving more control over your shooting. Brownings innovative mechanical firing system provides great ease of use for hunters and shooters, guaranteeing that a second shot can be fired whatever the circumstance. Even if you only have one cartridge in your gun, you will still be able to fire, which is not the case with an inertial system.

A totally new Inflex II recoil pad is fitted on all B725 shotguns as standard. This ultra flexible recoil pad provides the best recoil absorption possible on a shotgun. This exclusive material makes shouldering easier. Two other pads, 20 or 25 mm thick (available on option), make it easy to adjust the length of your stock. In this way, you can adapt your B725 to your own morphology and also adapt it depending on the hunting season. Furthermore, these exclusively designed pads, 20 or 25 mm thick, generate a downward movement of the stock when firing, moving it away from the shooters cheek, and giving incomparable comfort when firing. On the 100th birthday of the legendary 1911 pistol, we are proud and happy to present you with a re-dimensioned version of this mythical gun in .22LR calibre. The Model 1911 pistol was created by John Moses Browning at the beginning of the 1900s to reply to a call for tenders made by the American army for a .45 calibre pistol. The aluminium receiver also has a mat black finish. The barrel, made from molybdenum chrome steel has a barrel insert machined from a single stainless steel block. The magazine with a capacity of ten rounds is in heat treated steel to guarantee long service life and reliability of loading. The manual safety catch is well-dimensioned. Like the original model, the 1911-.22 has a pistol grip safety system.

Unique in Europe, Sabournac is a private hunting estate that has been organising mallard shoots over the last twenty years or so on the principles of the large English style shoots. This type of hunting surprises and appeals to many hunters, who like shooting a few hundred cartridges on high-flying mallards. The birds fly over surprisingly high, which challenges top-shooters to equip themselves with full-choke guns. The estate is open from September 1st to January 31st and may be reserved by a single group of 4 to 12 guns.
Hunting francolin and guinea-fowl at random is the speciality of the Elephant Camp together with pass shooting turtle-dove and sand-grouse coming in to drink at waterholes. The season goes from December through to March. Hunters will find a comfortable camp (with air-conditioning and a swimming pool). Enjoy all the unfamiliar sights and sounds of the African bush.
The Browning B525 is already appreciated by more than a million hunters for its many qualities, and most especially for its unequalled sturdiness in the field.
