Landslide(r) magazine is accepting applications for two positions for Meeting of the Minds Issue Editors, one in the

area of trademarks and/or copyright and the other in the area of patents. As Meeting of the Minds Issue Editors, you would be responsible for coordinating roughly three patent or three trademark/copyright related articles a year). This position is for a minimum two year commitment with the potential to become an Issue Editor for Landslide(r) magazine. Further information on the positions is available in the attached Meeting of the MindsGuidelines document. The Meeting of the Minds column is one of the recurring departments in each issue of Landslide. Each column is authored by a young lawyer in conjunction with a particular committee. The program is designed to get young lawyers substantively involved in the committees while offering them the opportunity to be published. The end product will not only be the result of collaboration between a committee member and a young lawyer, but it will also serve to raise awareness of the roles committees play and the opportunities they present to young lawyers. I believe the name of the column says it all "Meeting of the Minds: Connecting Future IP Law Leaders with ABA-IPL." Here is how it typically works: 1) The Young Lawyer/Law Student identifies a committee in the ABA-IPL that interests them. 2) They join the committee. 3) They send an e-mail to the committee chair introducing themselves and asking when the next call will be. 4) They learn about the topics of interest to the committee and propose to write an article with the committee for publication in Landslide. 5) They send the proposed topic to the Meeting of the Minds editor by e-mail. 6) The editor reviews articles that are currently slated or previously published in Landslide(r) for overlap. 7) The topic is vetted with the Intake Editor and the Board. 8) The topic is green lighted or sent back to the author for reworking. 9) The article is scheduled in for publication. This program is designed to get young lawyers and law students substantively involved in the committees of the ABA-IPL while offering them the opportunity to be published. The end product will not only be the result of collaboration between a committee member and a young lawyer, but it will also serve to raise awareness of the roles committees play and the opportunities they present to young lawyers. The person in the committee who volunteers will get joint attribution for their contributions to the published work, and the committee will get a promotional sentence at the beginning of the article. The official transition to this position will occur in September but we plan to introduce successful candidates to our existing Meeting of the Minds Issue

Editors in May/June so they are ready to go in the position in September. Attached is the application that you need to complete if you are interested in applying to this position. Please email the application along with a resume to Marisia Campbell at mcampbell@qnx.com<mailto:mcampbell@qnx.com> with a copy to Michelle Oberts at michelle.oberts@americanbar.org<mailto:michelle.oberts@americanbar.org>.
