EVENT INFORMATION
Please read carefully and complete the permission note accordingly. The Department of Education now requires that students who are weak or non-swimmers be clearly identified. Students who are identified as such will be required to wear a distinctive wrist band and have entry restrictions placed upon them. Please refer to the permission note as your guide. Restrictions NON-SWIMMER may only enter a wade event and must stay in shallow water. WEAK SWIMMER may enter wade or 25m events and remain in outside lanes AVERAGE SWIMMER may only enter 25m events CAPABLE SWIMMER Permitted to swim in 50+ events Zone qualifying- Please note that all zone events are at least 50m so only capable swimmers are able to compete in these events at the school carnival. Students are not required to dive in at the start of a race and may stop during a race to regain their breath or energy. Students are only permitted to swim in one freestyle AGE event that is either 25m, 50m or wade. See program for information about events to be held. Finals may be swum in 50m freestyle events if time allows. In all other events, the winner is determined by the fastest time swum in heats. All Age 100m Students who swim 50m are permitted to swim in the ALL AGE 100m as well. Students must indicate their intention to enter on their permission note. In order to begin the carnival on time the ALL AGE 100m will be the first event and students will swim in heats according to their entry time. Please note BUTTERFLY is a complicated and demanding event, especially over 50m. Therefore only students who are aware of the stroke requirements and have been taught to do the stroke correctly should compete in this event. 200M MEDLEY while we encourage students to enter the 200m medley it is again a very strenuous event and should only be entered by students who can comfortably and competently swim 50m in all four strokes. Students not swimming in the breaststroke or butterfly events will not be permitted to enter the medley unless they have spoken to the Carnival Convener beforehand. Please ensure that your child understands whether they should enter breaststroke, butterfly, 100m and medley events. Disqualification is upsetting to students, parents and teachers. Note students will only be notified of disqualifications if they are likely to be place getters or zone representatives. Ms Anne-Maree Connolly Carnival Convener Mr Chris Connor Principal
