MONTHLY CRIME BULLETIN Auto Breaking and Entering January 2012 Activity Summary: There were nine (9) Auto B&Es reported in January 2012. There were fourteen (14) Auto B&Es reported during the same timeframe in 2011. This is a 36% decrease from 2011 to 2012. The zone with the highest number of incidents is East 3 with four (4), or 44%. The reporting tracts with the highest number of incidents are B2 and D2 with three (3), or 33%, each. Seven (7), or 77%, of the incidents took place at commercial locations. Seven (7), or 77%, of the incidents involved forced entry. Four (4), or 44%, of the incidents were discovered between the hours of 0800 to 1159. Seven (7) incidents are open for further investigation and two (2) have been closed with leads exhausted. Comments/Recommendations: Historically, HPD has an average of 26 Auto B&Es during the month of January with a current threshold of 10 to 42. This January, we were under the threshold with 9 reported Auto B&Es. Based on day and hour of occurrence, increased patrols are recommended in the B2 and D2 commercial areas on Sundays and Mondays especially between the hours of 1100 and 2000. Forecast for February: The average number of Auto B&Es for the month of February is 23 plus or minus 13.
