Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated, self-starting UNIX / Database Engineer to join a development team
responsible for design, development and support of Fixed Income Trading Systems. The successful
candidate must be able to work independently while actively participating in a dynamic, global team.

Fixed Income Development Team designs, develops and supports technology solutions for trading various
financial instruments: US Government, Corporate and Foreign Sovereignty Bonds, Agency Issued and
Mortgage Backed Securities and more.

This position is well-suited for a person who wishes to be involved with many different aspects of Platform
Engineering which includes Oracle Database Administration, RedHat Linux Systems Administration, and
extensive scripting for both.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Independently build a fully functional UNIX–based DB system from scratch (OS, Storage, Network, DB)
• Design/Engineer complex DB solutions (e.g. Oracle ASM, RMAN, RAC, Data Guard)
• Develop automated (scripted) installation kits for various Oracle products
• Write thorough technical documentation for consumption by the QA and Operations teams
• 3rd Level Production and Lab Support of worldwide Oracle environments

Skills & Abilities (required technical /functional skills):

• Strong scripting skills (Shell or PERL) are a must
• RedHat Linux or UNIX experience (Partition disks, RAID Configuration, OS Installations)
• Oracle DBA skills (Install Oracle, create schemas, perform online RMAN backups, understand archive
logs and redo logs) on a UNIX platform
• Manage DB storage using Oracle ASM
• Experience with Oracle RAC within Data Warehouse environments
• Replication experience using Oracle Data Guard
• Willing to learn new technical skills as needed
• Comfortable with being “hands on” with hardware
• Strong documentation skills (using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
• Ability to communicate well during meetings with both Business and Technical staff
Ability to meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure

Knowledge/Requirements:
• Minimum of seven years Oracle DBA experience.
• Detailed knowledge of Linux / UNIX Systems Administration
• Five or more years of experience within an IT organization of a large financial company.
• Understands Fixed Income Trading and business motivation for various application features
• Expert knowledge of Oracle DB products.
• Minimum Bachelors degree
