HILLS INDUSTRIES LIMITED undertake that if any part of its manufacture has failed to operate correctly due to faulty workmanship or defective material, it will repair or replace the part free of cost for a period of twelve (12) months from the date of purchase of the article, given fair wear and tear. Evidence of unfair usage or incorrect adjustment by the owner will void this promise. HILLS INDUSTRIES LIMITED will not be responsible for any cost in connection with freight or postage, or for the expenditure necessary to dismantle the article, replace the part in position and re-assemble the article.

IMPORTANT: Support the top of the Hoist before removing the Case Retaining bolts and nuts. You will require the assistance of another person to perform this task. TO DISMANTLE: Remove the Pinion and Case assembly. See FIG 3. Remove the Hoist from the Bottom Main Standard and place upside down on the ground. See FIG 1. Remove the Cross and Top Cap Retaining screws. Withdraw the Secondary Standard from the Head assembly. Loosen and remove the Reducer and Bush from the Secondary Main Standard. See FIG 2. Slide the Top Main Standard off of the Secondary Standard. See FIG 2a. Remove the Worm and Crown Wheel from the end of the Secondary Standard. See FIG 2b. Cut the Stabiliser Plug from the bottom of the Secondary Standard. (if needed) See FIG 4. TO REASSEMBLE: Weld the new Stabiliser Plug to the bottom of the Secondary Standard. (if needed) See FIG 4a. Lightly lubricate the Worm, Crown Wheel and Conical Washer with Vaseline. Reassemble in the reverse order of above.

IMPORTANT: Support the top of the Hoist before removing the Case Retaining bolts and nuts. You will require the assistance of another person to perform this task. TO REMOVE: Remove the Handle and Case assembly. See FIG 3. Remove the Head Assembly. See FIG 1. Loosen the Reducer Retaining screw and slide the Reducer off of the end of the Secondary standard. See FIG 2. Slide the Top Main Standard off of the Secondary Standard. Bend the Worm at 45 deg. to the Secondary Standard to release. See FIG 2a. Remove the Conical Washer from the Worm Hook. Unscrew the Crown Wheel from the Worm. See FIG 2b. TO REPLACE: Lightly lubricate the Crown Wheel, Pinion and Worm with Vaseline. Screw the Crown Wheel onto the Worm. Fit the Conical Washer to the Worm Hook. See FIG 2b. Attach the Worm Hook to the Bottom of the Secondary Standard. See FIG 2a. Fit Top Main Standard over the Secondary Standard and re-fit the Reducer and Nylon Bush. See FIG 2. Re assemble the Hoist as described in FIG 3.

IMPORTANT: Support the top of the Hoist before removing the Case Retaining bolts and nuts. You will require the assistance of another person to perform this task. TO REMOVE: Undo and remove the Case Retaining bolts and nuts. Separate and remove the Case assembly. See FIG 1. Hold the pinion in a vice and undo the Handle Retaining Screw. Remove and discard the old Pinion, Pinion Cover and Retaining Screw. TO REPLACE: Clean the inside of both Cases. Lightly lubricate the Pinion, Retaining Washer and Spring with Vaseline. Align the parts in order and re-assemble. See FIG 1. Place the two Cases together around the Top and Bottom Main Standards, line up the Pinion and Crown Wheel. Re-fit and tighten the Case Retaining bolts and nuts.

IMPORTANT: Support the top of the Hoist before removing the Case Retaining bolts and nuts. You will require the assistance of another person to perform this task. You will require the use of a welder or the assistance of your local welding shop to complete this task. TO REMOVE: Dismantle Hoist as described in FIG 1, 2 and 3. Grip the Secondary Standard in a vice and cut the Stabiliser Plug off with a hacksaw. See FIG 4. Clean off any rough edges with a file. TO REPLACE: Fit the new Stabiliser Plug to the bottom of the Secondary Standard. See FIG 4a. Tack weld the Stabiliser Plug to the Secondary Standard in three places. (3 x 15mm welds). See FIG 4b. Paint the welds with a rust proofing paint. To reassemble, refer to FIG 1, 2 and 3.

IMPORTANT: DO NOT undo or remove the Case Retaining bolts and nuts until the top of the Hoist is fully supported. Due to the size and weight of the Hoist, it is advisable to get assistance before attempting any major repairs. Always protect your eyes and hands when handling steel clothes line wire. You will require the use of a welder or the assistance of your local welding shop to replace the Stabiliser Plug.
