INTRODUCTION This trial compaction method statement reflects the nature of the contract as specified to the project Cadangan Merekabentuk, Membina, Melengkap, Menyiapkan, Mentauliah Dan Menyelenggarakan Kerja-kerja Infrastruktur Utama Dan Kerja-kerja Satelit Untuk Tambahan Kampus Universiti Teknologi MARA Di Lot PT 1567 & PT 1568, Mukim Jeram, Daerah Kuala Selangor, Selangor Darul Ehsan, in order to maintain a standard of quality while allowing expeditious construction of the works to conform to the fast track requirements.

SCOPE OF WORKS This method statement shall apply to Earth Compaction Works.

3.0

GENERAL

Generally, trial compactions are to be carried out to determine the laboratory and field optimum moisture contents which are to be deduced from the laboratory and field dry density/moisture content relationships and also to determine the specified requirements. Specifically, trial compactions are required to measure the following parameter: 1. Number of passes required to achieve degree of compaction specified in the contract. 2. The maximum thickness of fill which complies to the degree of compaction specified in the contract. The dry density/moisture content, field density and specified tests shall be carried out using the appropriate methods described in B.S. 1377. 4.0 TRIAL COMPACTION A level platform shall be prepared prior to the commencement of trial compaction.
Each layer of fill shall be spread and leveled by bulldozer followed by compaction of the roller compactor employed for the project. Each sample shall be taken for field density tests to determine the degree of compaction based of the proposed number of passes as follows: a) 6 passes b) 8 passes c) 10 passes d) 12 passes e) 14 passes
