POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position Description: Marketing Analyst

The role of the Marketing Analyst will be to act as an analytical consultant to various business groups within Microsoft Canada. The initial core responsibilities will be to understand the requirements of internal clients, devise an approach to best meet their needs, develop analyses to fulfill these needs, and present the results. As the incumbent's experience with Microsoft business needs and data grow, additional responsibilities will be introduced. These new responsibilities will include automation, streamlining and building of analytical processes and infrastructure.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with very strong knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas:

Database Marketing Analyst

1. Strong communication and time management skills, experience working with multiple projects simultaneously an asset. 2. Strong knowledge of database fundamentals; SQL, database design. 3. Strong quantitative skills, statistical background an asset. 5. Self-starter; able to work well under minimal supervision. 6. Experience with Visual Studio, especially automation of data extraction and processing an asset 7. AJAX, data visualization and web programming fundamentals, non-essential, but a strong asset.

Job Description:

1. Translate client business requirements into technical requirements 2. Extract, manipulate and translate raw data into a useable form 3. Conduct data audits from source systems 4. Convert data from source data systems to local data-mart infrastructure 5. Define and document best practices for analysis. 6. Automate and streamline report processes. 7. Recommend and/or create reporting infrastructure. 8. Communicate requirements and/or issues effectively to clients, peers and manager. 9. Manage multiple assignments on an ongoing basis. 10. Ensure consistent and accurate results are provided to the client by being detail oriented and performing quality control measures. 11. Initiates feedback to peers or manager of similarities/differences in reporting projects. 12. Analyze problems objectively and provides value-added solutions.

Department Overview:

The successful candidate will be a key part of a dynamic, innovative team within the Marketing Sciences department who focuses on leading-edge web analytics and marketing analytics work. Marketing Sciences utilizes analytic and data mining techniques and segmentation methodologies to solve a wide range of our clients business problems, including how to drive acquisition, cross-sell, migration and retention strategies.

Position Overview: The purpose of this position is to provide data management services to enhance client data environments improving the quality, standardization and usability of the data under the guidance of the team lead. The role will be responsible for data management, monitoring of data systems, generation of

data metrics and the development of tools and process to enhance overall data quality for the execution of client marketing initiatives. Additional services include providing subject matter expertise on data structures and applications, ETL tools and data processing techniques to client or in support of the Marketing Analysts. Key Responsibilities: Manage datasets required for data processing including uploading new data and submitting changes and updates to data systems through batch or manual processes. Ensure error-free execution of data maintenance processes and projects according to user requirements. Analyze datasets to uncover data anomalies or quality issues. Communicate data maintenance or quality status and issues to the team lead. Create reports and data extracts. Follow data execution project plans and timing, delivering lists and other deliverables to specification and on-time. Analyze, interpret and evaluate information of varying degrees of complexity from various sources Document processes and procedures. Act as subject matter advisor regarding client data and data execution processes. Participate in and drive continued process and quality improvements. Adhere to all industry and client specific privacy governance policies and best practices for list generation and deployment requirements Adhere to data standards, policies, processes and procedures of Wunderman and clients

Qualification and Competencies: Relevant university degree in a technical field preferably Computer Science or equivalent. Use of SQL and relational database technologies required. Efficient user of MS Access is required. Proficient user of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) Knowledge or experience with MS SQL Server an asset. Experience in data analysis an asset. Familiarity with database and/or data warehousing design and development also an asset. Knowledge of data processing and list generation work; familiarity with data cleansing and maintenance principles is an asset; Experience in Marketing or related discipline, direct marketing campaign experience an asset.
