A great place to start your visit is the historic Ryman Auditorium. Built in 1892, the Ryman rose to national prominence as the home of the Grand Ole Opry from 1943-1974. With pitch-perfect acoustics, its still a venerated performance hall for top-selling artists of all genres and the reigning Pollstar Theatre of the Year, widely considered the most prestigious award in the concert industry. Since hitting the airwaves in 1925, the famed Grand Ole Opry has thrilled audiences every weekend. When the Opry began uploading performances to the Internet in 2000, it made the Nashville sound even more accessible to a global audience. From large venues to intimate clubs, live music is found in every corner of the city. While Bridgestone Arena hosts blockbuster concert events, music lovers will also want to catch incredible performances found at smaller venues. The more intimate settings of The Bluebird Cafe (celebrating 30 years of live music in 2012), The Loveless Barn, Station Inn, Tootsies Orchid Lounge and numerous honky-tonks along Lower Broadway give audiences the feel of an impromptu jam session. Its easy to keep up with who is playing in Nashville while on the go. A Live Music Guide app can help you locate live music venues throughout the city and tell you whos on stage. Users can search by area of town or venue name, and a handy map function will show your location and the live music venue options nearby. The apps calendar, powered by NowPlayingNashville.com, will search live music events up to 14 days out.

When life hands you lemons, make lemonade. That was the philosophy of the Schermerhorn Symphony Center, Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center and Opry Mills (reopening spring 2012) after the historic 2010 flood damaged these iconic properties. Back and better than ever, the Nashville Symphony is once again thrilling audiences from the stage of its elegant hall. Two of Nashvilles famed attractions welcome additions for 2012. The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, which recently made significant additions to core displays, pays homage to a musical legend in the limited-engagement biographical exhibition Chet Atkins: Certified Guitar Player. Running through June, the exhibit tells the story of Music Citys ultimate Renaissance man, whose signature guitar licks influenced scores of musicians. The museum is also preparing to expand physically; a connector will link the attraction to the new Omni Nashville Hotel, opening in 2013. The museum, which gains additional exhibit space in the project, will also operate the hotels 800-seat theater. The Music City Walk of Fame continues to grow each spring and fall with a new class of inductees. seeing stars
Although Nashville is one of the worlds most famous entertainment capitals, its also home base for many artists who live, work and play here. While its easy to see entertainers headlining performances at live music venues around town, its also possible to do some stargazing while dining out, shopping or sightseeing. Popular restaurants near Music Row often attract singers, songwriters and music executives. Other possible star-sighting opportunities include the Grand Ole Opry, a show at The Bluebird Cafe, The Stage on Broadway or other downtown honky-tonks, shopping in the upscale boutiques at The Mall at Green Hills, visiting the Music City Walk of Fame, and even dropping by the Visitor Information Center at the corner of Broadway and Fifth Avenue.
