Considering The Poor

Key Versus Proverbs 19:17 17 He who has pity on the poor lends to the LORD, And He will pay back what he has given. Psalm 41:1-3 1 Blessed is he who considers the poor; The LORD will deliver him in time of trouble. 2 The LORD will preserve him and keep him alive, And he will be blessed on the earth; You will not deliver him to the will of his enemies. 3 The LORD will strengthen him on his bed of illness; You will sustain him on his sickbed. *Gods Commands Concerning The Poor Deuteronomy 15:7 If there is a poor man among your brothers in any of the towns of the land that the LORD your God is giving you, do not be hardhearted or tightfisted toward your poor brother. Ref. Gal 6:10 KJV - 10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all [men], especially unto them who are of the household of faith. Isaiah 58:6 Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? (Getting right with God begins by stopping the evil we do towards others...)Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? ( Getting right with God continues by doing loving things towards others.)

Jeremiah 22:3 This is what the LORD says: Do what is just and right. Rescue from the hand of his oppressor the one who has been robbed. Do no wrong or violence to the alien, the fatherless or the widow, and do not shed innocent blood in this place. Stand up for the poor.... They have rights just like us... Give example of news reports on the Homeless in Honolulu. *Prov. 29:7. The righteous is concerned for the rights of the poor; the wicked does not understand such concern. Matthew 5:42 Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you. Keeping with in context of this passage....give with expecting nothing in return... Act of love Luke 3:11 John answered, the man with two tunics should share with him who has none, and the one who has food should do the same." Look around your house, your closet, your food storage cabinet...What can we share.... Luke 12:33 (29-34) "Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will not be exhausted, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys."... *What should our attitude be toward the poor? 1 John 3:17. But whoever has the world's goods, and beholds his brother in need and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God abide in him? We need not to have a blind eye and a closed heart towards the needy... If we do, how can we say we have the Love of God abiding in us.

2 Cor 9:7. Let each one do just as he has purposed in his heart; not grudgingly or under compulsion; for God loves a cheerful giver. Mt. 6:2-4. "When therefore you give alms, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be honored by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full. But when you give alms, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, that your alms may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will repay you." Acts 4:32-35. And the congregation of those who believed were of one heart and soul; and not one of them claimed that anything belonging to him was his own, but all things were common property to them. And with great power the apostles were giving witness to the resurrection of theLord Jesus, and abundant grace was upon them all. For there was not a needy person among them, for all who were owners of land or houses would sell them and bring the proceeds of the sales and lay them at the apostles' feet; and they would be distributed to each, as any had need. *Blessings on those who serve the poor and needy. Prov. 22:9 He who is generous will be blessed, for he gives some of his food to the poor. Jer. 22:16 "Did not your father eat and drink, and do justice and righteousness? Then it was well with him. He pled the cause of the afflicted and needy; then it was well. Is that not what it means to know Me?" declares the LORD. Deut. 15:10-11 Message Bible 10-11 Give freely and spontaneously. Don't have a stingy heart. The way you handle matters like this triggers God, your God's, blessing in everything you do, all your work and ventures. There are always going to be poor and needy people among you. So I

command you: Always be generous, open purse and hands, give to your neighbors in trouble, your poor and hurting neighbors.

Is. 58:10-12 The Message Bible If you are generous with the hungry and start giving yourselves to the down-and-out, Your lives will begin to glow in the darkness, your shadowed lives will be bathed in sunlight. I will always show you where to go. I'll give you a full life in the emptiest of places firm muscles, strong bones. You'll be like a well-watered garden, a gurgling spring that never runs dry. You'll use the old rubble of past lives to build anew, rebuild the foundations from out of your past. You'll be known as those who can fix anything, restore old ruins, rebuild and renovate, make the community livable again. *Consequences of not serving the poor and the needy. Isaiah 10:1-4 The Message Bible 1-4 Doom to you who legislate evil, who make laws that make victims Laws that make misery for the poor, that rob my destitute people of dignity, Exploiting defenseless widows, taking advantage of homeless children. What will you have to say on Judgment Day, when Doomsday arrives out of the blue? Who will you get to help you? What good will your money do you? A sorry sight you'll be then, huddled with the prisoners, or just some corpses stacked in the street. Even after all this, God is still angry, his fist still raised, ready to hit them again.

Ezekiel 16:49-50 49 Look, this was the iniquity of your sister Sodom: She and her daughter had pride, fullness of food, and abundance of idleness; neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy. 50 And they were haughty and committed abomination before Me; therefore I took them away as I saw fit.
