Last night we had our 2012 Golf-A-thon Kick-off Meeting. It was a fun event! It was especially fun this year thanks to the Huckesteins who donated a fabulous array of prizes for our golfers. Following is a brief summary of our meeting. We hope to hear from each family soon to find out how you will be able to help in this final fundraiser of the year. What it IS A FUNdraiser for St. Augustine Academy. It is also a TOOL to help you SHARE THE STORY about this great school and invite friends, and especially business acquaintances, to share some of their charity dollars with SAA. EVERYBODY givesthe questions is; to whom? Or which organization? Usually they will give to the ones that ask. If you ask in person it is that much better. Give it a try just ask. What it is NOT A golf tournament. As the Jog-A-Thon is not really about the jogging, neither is this really about the golfingthe jogging and golfing are the fun day for those who worked so hard getting pledges. The golf-a-thon is not the typical golf tournament where we have to find 144 golfers to fill a course, charge $150 per person, and walk away with $10-$15,000 in support for the school. This PLEDGE approach, even with the few people who have done it in the past, raises $30,000 $40,000 even $50,000 for the school. We just work the program, and it WORKS FOR US. Many of us are not golfers, which is OK, because it is about the school, not golfing. Who can be involved? ANYONE! The only restrictions are that whoever does it raises/gives the minimum pledge level ($500), and that if your child wants to be involved, they need to golf with you during the day of (course restriction.) THREE ways to help: Most common (and desirable) become a GOLFER a. See Flyer which explains how to be a golfer 3 easy steps. i. Pledge yourself $1 per hole (or $2, $5 or more.) ii. Find another $24 per hole in pledges [Goal is $25 per hole per golfer] iii. Come out and play 100 holes of golf on April 23rd! 2. Be a PLEDGE PARTNER Also see flyerbut instead of golfing, you help be a partner to raise pledges for the school, and someone else will golf your holes. 3. Be an AD DIPLOMAT help procure ads for the Golf-A-Thon Program. Contact Mr. or Mrs. Slaga for more details. Flyer will be in next weeks Blue Letter for this. 1. ******************************************************************* NEW THIS YEAR The Golf Committee has come up with a wonderful incentive program. This whole events success is predicated upon numbersnumbers of participants, that is. To help boost ourselves above the 20-24 participants range, the pot has been sweetened to entice us all to jump in: Every family who collects a minimum of $500 in pledges gets a raffle ticket. From these tickets, FIVE winners will be drawn at the Golf-A-Thon Day Luncheon (another new addition to this years event.) The Prizes are as follows: Grand Prize a full semester of TUITION for one of your SAA Students (at SAA, not Harvard!) Second Prize Three MONTHS TUITION. Third Prize (3 of these!) ONE MONTHs TUITION.
