Time Period Covered Date From: 02/12/12 To: 02/19/12 Summary of Incidents: Date 02/12/12 Day Sun Time 1543 Details: Suspicious Person/Activity An employer reported that an employee had received an e-mail requesting $15,000 to ensure the employees safety. An officer advised that the message was clearly spam. Domestic Disturbance A woman asked for help removing her ex-husband, who had outstayed his welcome, from her residence. Officers contacted the man and helped him arrange alternative lodging until such time as he was able to depart the island. Public Safety Caller reported a man and his dog walking on the lake. An officer responded and the man told the officer he and his dog were fine. Welfare Check An officer responding to a report of an inebriate passed out in the airport found an exhausted but not intoxicated man who said he had been working very long hours for the past two weeks. A friend arrived to take the tuckered fellow back to his vessel for the night. Security Check Request Facilities manager asked for additional patrols around a building which could not be properly locked this evening. Welfare Check After receiving information that a youth had sent some text messages that could be interpreted as suicidal, an officer contacted the youth and his parents. Investigation revealed the source of the youths messages was simply familial stress, which he had communicated to his friends in an inappropriate fashion. Burn Permit MVA Damage A driver who lost control of his vehicle while traversing an ice-covered section of curving road struck another vehicle in the oncoming lane of traffic. Harassment A caller who had previously reported receiving harassing phone messages called to report another call, this time with a valid caller ID. An officer contacted the person to whom the phone number was registered and warned him of the consequences should he continue to make said calls. Animal Loose dog. Civil Officer stood by while a man collected his belongings from his former residence. Trespass Officer issued a trespass advisement, per Unisea management, to a man no longer welcome on Unisea property. Domestic Disturbance A man asked for advice regarding his wifes ongoing anger management problems. An officer, after ascertaining that no crime had yet occurred, recommended leaving the house so as to avoid a physical confrontation. Assistance Rendered Officer assisted individual with no place to stay until their flight in the morning with locating lodgings. Public Safety A category one travel advisory was issued for winter storm conditions. Traffic Roads Roads chief contacted regarding drifting roads. Assistance Rendered Officer assisted stuck vehicle. Ambulance Request EMS volunteers provided medical care for an unconscious individual with abnormal breathing. Assistance Rendered Officers assisted EMS volunteers. Assistance Rendered Caller requested assistance getting vehicle unstuck from snowy road, but the officer discovered roads conditions were only conducive to walking in that particular area. Medevac Welfare Check Officers followed up on a 911 call in which a child stated they needed help. Child was found to be playing. Ambulance Request EMS volunteers provided medical care to an individual who had received steam burns while offloading a container ship. Assistance Rendered Officers assisted EMS responders. Drug Law Violation Information regarding crack cocaine distribution in Unalaska received. Traffic Roads Roads chief notified of icy road conditions. 02/16/12 02/16/12 Thu Thu 1041 1052 Animal Loose dogs. Custody Troopers housed individual arrested on warrant in Unalaska jail. Suspicious Person/Activity Report of an individual walking in the roadway spurred many hours of investigation into resident alien whose identity had been stolen by an active sex offender. The man contacted was found to be an innocent victim. Domestic Disturbance Oft battling on/off couple and friends fought after drinking. Loann N. Bereskin, 49 yoa of Unalaska was arrested on the charge of Assault IV DV. Theft Possible theft of electricity/fuel from city investigated. Ambulance Request EMS volunteers transported patient from docking vessel to clinic. Assistance Rendered Officers assisted EMS responders. Domestic Disturbance Officers mediated exchange of belongings between an ex-couple. Drug Law Violation - Local seafood processing plant reported that an employee is receiving suspicious packages in the mail. Officers discovered illicit substances inside one of these packages. Currently under investigation. Civil Officer provided landlord with landlord/tenant act booklet. Theft Pieces of ivory reported stolen at a residence where a previous disturbance occurred. Under investigation.

Immediately adopted by individual who had wanted a cat for weeks. Warrant Arrest Wesley D. Sandel, 26 yoa of Unalaska was arrested on a bench warrant for failing to comply with conditions of probation. Traffic Crime Snowmobiler left his truck blocking the middle of the road. Domestic Disturbance Raging roommate attempted roundhouse punch. Abdirahman A Warasme, 43 yoa of Tukwila, WA was charged with Assault IV DV. He claimed his roommates were just too religious and angry at him for being drunk.

Environmental Littering pedestrian contacted. Drug Law Violation Marijuana and various pills confiscated from patient at the clinic and destroyed. Assistance Rendered Truck driver pulled partly of roadway fearing running out of diesel. Officer assisted by directing traffic while the truck proceeded to become stuck in snowbank and refueling was completed. Traffic Roads Rockslide reported to officer already involved in traffic control. Another officer responded and cleared the road.
