At whAt point did you become interested in politics? whAt mAde you decide to run? I become interested in politics in high school when I was elected a school leader and House Captain. I decided to run because I have friends with different views and having different angles on issues will help me make the best decisions for the students. would you consider pursuing politics beyond the scope of A university setting? Politics to me in its purest form is a tool for making positive change. My participation in politics would be based on the identification of a particular aspect that I could affect positively. which federAl politicAl pArty do your support/ feel most closely reflects your politics? Being a first year International Student straight from Kenya, I havent gotten to interact much with Canadian politics to understand what each party stands for. Therefore, I do not support any. hAve you ever been to A boArd meeting? I have not been to a board meeting yet as the schedule often conflicts with my classes. I however have the benefit of being friends with UVic students who have sat on the board or attended board meetings and I get to listen to varied views on decisions and discussions that have gone on in the meetings. whAt is your position on uvics smoking policy thAt bAns smoking inside ring roAd? The ban was a good step in the wrong direction. It is necessary to create smoking zones to safeguard non-smokers right to fresh air, however smoking zones should also be created within Ring road for people who need a quick smoke as the switch between classes. date the passengers but more has to be done at the office level to ensure that the problem doesnt arise every year. I think at least two work-study positions should be created to deal with publicity for UVSS events. Volunteer hours should also be allocated to students willing to help out with such activities too.
