Objectives of the study or tour

y The main objective behind the study or tour is to understand or study the human resource management and different types of product, market, key to manage a huge amount of goods and raw material in a proper and efficient manner by the use of human resources and it products like computers and servers. y The other objective was to learn how to convert a small thing into a precious product and use it in different ways according to the needs of an individual, market or society. y How to maintain a fix quality in product by using same raw material of same quality? For example, In SECO tools they use a mixture of Tungsten carbide and cobalt and some specific ingredients which is not manufactured in India, the mixture is imported from Sweden to maintain the quality of product worldwide.

y Another thing was to learn how to use minimum space to store huge amount of finished goods and control the operating and production cost by minimizing the area of storage. For example, to store the finished goods they use Moving Racks, which occupy small space and store huge goods in their racks with ease.

y The most important thing we learnt was that every department of industry whether its finance, production, stores, marketing is connected with HR department.
10

y To manage efficient production and store management and minimize the risk of dead stock, transfer of information whether its related with purchase or sales is quick and done very efficiently. y Every little operation was calculated in total cost, so as to keep the price of product low and control the finance function. For example, the energy consumed during every opening of automatic door is Rs.8 and it is included in production cost. And every machine had labels on their top, showing the total cost of one unit in that particular unit. y And deduct the value which is generated after selling the residual of production process. y How to Control the employees by creating a single union for all the employees and workers? y Creating different unit for export and domestic purposes to maintain difference in the production of both. And try to control the lead time of both the units and maintain uniform quality. y How to minimize the expenditure of employees by dividing the whole industry in parts between 3 or 4 Human resource heads? y How to control and use the resources by recycling it? Like the waste water is treated to purify and reuse in gardening and cleaning. y How to use the self-resources in the production process and minimize the production cost. For example- In carrier section, to cut the large section of alloy steel into pieces they use their own cutting tools which are produced in industry.

Human Resource Practice in SECO

Manage the Limited Resources

Lack of resources is a common challenge in a world full of innovation and fast developing tools, and as their business continues to grow you will have to keep up with demand while remaining efficient. To do this they have to think about how to streamline their production lines by automating processes. One way is to find a tool that requires very little maintenance. They have a broad range of tools with exceptionally long tool life that help you to keep up with demands. Their local sales representative will be able to answer any questions.

Increase Productivity
Increased productivity is essential for every company in the struggle for market share. Some cornerstones are crucial in this respect; reliable machinery, good quality tools and high quality products. SECO increases productivity with their huge range of products and control or maintain the same quality in the product range. And develop different products according to customer needs and control the price.

19

Improved Supply Chain

Looking to improve your supply chain? Who isn't? Reports on consumption, stock levels, costs etc. are some important factors in achieving a functional, successful production chain. In the spirit of helping their customers wherever possible, they have the solution to supply chain challenges. A secure, point-of-use, tool dispenser. The system monitors every transaction through individual user IDs entered on a touchsensitive screen every time a tool is removed or returned to a compartmentalized drawer. For high volume products, they offer Supply-Bay, a coil-fed cabinet dispenser. Both this system and SECO Point can be configured as standalone dispensers or connected to work together. Stock information from both systems is automatically recorded and relayed to SupplyPort, a web-portal that stores information on a secure off-site server. From the information gathered by SupplyPort, a number of reports can be easily generated via a web browser, with no additional software or hardware.

Reduce Productivity Costs

In today's demanding world, reducing costs and improving lead times are problems experienced by many businesses. SECO's extensive experience within the global metal cutting environment has lead to the development of a system that enables measurement, control, and management of manufacturing processes. The system is called PCA (Productivity and Cost Analysis). Using PCA, we take a wider view of your manufacturing methods, focusing not just on the cost of tooling, but at the total cost of production. Using PCA , we can evaluate a single machine tool process or the complete path a work piece takes on its journey through a manufacturing plant.

20

The latter takes bottlenecks or restraint operations into consideration, where more in-depth studies are necessary. The PCA software provides a comprehensive report with both process information, such as tooling and cutting data, and cost information such as cost per part, output per hour, tool consumption and investment cost. Typically, reports that have been conducted for a number of years in a wide range of different industries have shown reductions in total costs of 15-30% with improvements in productivity of up to 40%. The PCA analysis is always performed by a qualified SECO representative.

Industry Solutions
They provide powerful machining solutions to leading companies around the world. Aerospace, Oil & Gas, Power Generation and Medical industry solutions are, among many others, where we deploy highly specialized machining competence.
