FORMAL EVENTS

Fashion Parade
An evening dedicated to fashion, this extravaganza of an event will witness some serious competition as individuals strut their stuff on the runway, while they epitomize beauty and display stunning couture. Winners would be declared in the following category: Best Team/Collection/Idea and Best ModelMale/Female. They would also receive cash prizes and trophies/goodies.

Rules & Regulations: Each team would get 15-20 minutes to showcase their collection. Every team has to describe their collection (the fabrics used, the reason for the theme chosen etc.) within the given time frame.
There will be an interactive round with the judges after each collection. The judges, in this interaction, can ask questions related to their collection.

Music Events Can hit those high notes like Whitney Houston or Adele? Then Dhwani, the Music society offers the platform to fill the air with your voices, as you battle it out for exciting prizes and be titled the nightingale at Crescendo12! There are two events in this category1. Octaves, the Western Music Event and 2. Mridanga, The Indian Music event.

Following are the competitions under Octaves:


Western Vocal Solo 2 entries per college Maximum no. of accompanists: 2 Time Limit: 5 minutes (including announcement, set up, sound check, introduction, etc) Prerecorded tracks are NOT allowed 30 slots
Acoustic Band (Unplugged) 1 entry per college

Minimum 3 participants Time Limit: 12 minutes (including announcement, set up, sound check, introduction, etc) Exceptions: Bass and Keyboard Prerecorded tracks are NOT allowed 12 slots Western Choir 1 entry per college Minimum 8 participants Maximum no. of accompanists: 2 Time Limit: 12 minutes (including announcement, set up, sound check, introduction, etc) Prerecorded tracks are NOT allowed 10 slots General Rules: 1. Slots will be allotted in random order 2. All participants MUST carry their ID card 3. Participants must bring their own Instruments 4. Drum Kit will be provided 5. Register latest by 22nd via email/phone call 6. Limited on-the-spot registrations 7. Exceeding of time limit will lead to deduction of marks

Following are the competition details for Mridanga: Light Indian Solo 2 entries per college Maximum no. of accompanists: 2 Time Limit: 5 minutes (including announcement, set up, sound check, introduction, etc)

Indian Group 1 entry per college Minimum 6 participants Maximum 15 (including instrumentalists) Maximum no. of accompanists: 4 (including electronic Tanpura) Time Limit: 12 minutes (including announcement, set up, sound check, introduction, etc) 10 slots General Rules 1. Slots will be allotted in random order 2. All participants MUST carry their ID card 3. Participants must bring their own Instruments 4. Last date for registration: 22nd Feb via email/phone call 5. Limited on-the-spot registrations 6. Exceeding of time limit will lead to deduction of marks

MOCK STOCK If you are a stock czar and know exactly when the price is right to rake in the moolah, then this is the perfect event for you! A variant of mock stock wherein participants create a market/stock exchange, and determine values automatically, thereby giving them complete ownership of the entire game, from scratch, and profiteering from their decisions.

Rules & regulations: Teams of 2. Not more, not less. On spot registration allowed. School students, undergrads and postgrads allowed to participate. Prelims round followed by finals, innovative and new concepts to test financial skills, and the ability to think quickly.

BIZQUIZ Bring out the inner Derek OBrien in you and test your knowledge of anything and everything under the sun! From the world of entertainment and sports, to brand origins, trivia and lateral thinking; illuminate yourself in these unique quizzes and discover the quizzer in yourself! Take your pick and battle it out!

Rules & regulations: Teams of 2. Not more, not less. On spot registration allowed. Prelims round of 25 questions - common for all participants. No negative marks for wrong answers. 6 top scoring teams make it to finals of Biz Quiz. Finals format will be disclosed at the time of quiz. School students, undergrads and postgrads allowed to participate.

ESTHETIQUE- The Art Extravaganza


The power of imagination, visualization and innovation unleashes in full form at esthetique, the art extravaganza at crescendo2012 presenting art competitionscomic strip designing, balloon art, sketching game and graffitti; and Photoshop events- scary picture and book cover designing, unlocking graphical creativity.

About The Events: 1. Sketching Game For the lovers of art who dont like colours but just the pencil with which they started loving drawing, this is the competition. There shall be points for sketching in this game, and just as all games there shall be an unexpected twist to challenge their creativity, points given accordingly. The artist with highest point wins the competition. Participation individually or in teams of 2.

2. Graffiti For all the art lovers or for every one who just dont like pencils or sketch pens rather use big spray paints & markers, It is the name for images or lettering scratched or scrawled on a big area. The artist with the best painting output wins the competition. So unlock your creativity and come join the crowd! Participation in teams of 2.

3. Balloon Art Like Balloons? Everybody Does, Ever thought of giving the balloons a new look? like making designs and random drawings on them and make them look as you want them to. in this competition you can Make your balloon exactly the way you want them to look! Join the crowd, unlock your creativity and come up with new ideas and paint the balloons beautiful. The Best Looking Balloon wins the competition! Participation individually OR in teams of 2.

4. Comic Strip We all were cartoon lovers when we were kids! Now Use your imagination and put them on paper,colors them, make them look funny and interesting, Such that it becomes a story altogether which will be called the comic strip. THE BEST STORY WITH CARTOONS WINS! Participation individually OR in teams of 2.

General Rules and Regulations Registration for each event will be done on the spot. No changes are allowed once the work has been submitted. Art works will not be submitted after the time limit. The submitted work must be the original work of the students and created during the festival period. No extra time will be given to the late comers. Teams exceeding the maximum allowed number of participants will be disqualified.

Material for all the competitions will be provided at the time of respective events. Participants are not allowed to use their own materials. However, they are allowed to use pencils, brushes and erasers of their own.

Decision of the judges will be final. Any discrepancy will be handled by the event coordinators.

TURNCOAT If you believe that you are the argumentative Indian, who is willing to show off his or her grandiloquence, then the Turncoat debate, is the ultimate battle of words, to reign supreme at Crescendo12!

Rules & regulations: Preparation Time : 5minutes Speaking Time: 2 (For) + 2 (Against). Additional time for 15 seconds will be provided for summary. No Interjections will be allowed.
Topics will be provided on the spot and will be very general opinionated topics

Spin sin- spin the wheel


Spin Sin, will witness participants spin a wheel which would have various divisions such as finance, HR, marketing etc. One of the team members will spin the wheel & they have to answer a question from the field at which the wheel stops. Plus each team would be given a sum of $100,000 and they can bet on the question. Betting, gambling and the chance to double the amount, this game entails it all! A do or die situation has never been this engaging and nerve-riveting.

IT Mania Feel the tech fire in you, with three truly competitive IT events!

1. IT Tambola- wherein participants will compete against each other as in any other TAMBOLA game, the only difference being that, here they will judged upon their knowledge in IT! Let the games begin!

Rules & regulations: Participants will be competing against each other in a team of two. O They will be judged upon how strong their knowledge is in various IT languages(C, C++, JAVA, UNIX, PROLOG, etc). O Participants will be awarded prizes as soon as they will be striking off early five, first line, second line, third line, corners and houseful. 26 questions will be leading us to the winners.

2. Detangle- the most interesting event will be the highlight. Passion for freedom will lead you to victory .Stronger the knowledge in IT, earliest will be your freedom. With each correct answer a knot will be detangled and for each wrong answer one knot will be added.

Rules & regulations: A team of two members will be participating. Initially participants will be tied with a rope having 10 knots. Each team will be given 5 minutes to detangle all the knots. Teams will be asked questions from IT field.

3. Movie Making will combine the videos available online to present an interesting movie with a wonderful theme.

Rules & regulations: A team of one or two members will be participating. Raw videos will be uploaded online and will be used to prepare a new video and get it on the day of the event. Videos made by participants will be played during the event and on the basis of the quality of video winners will be chosen Participants will be judged on the basis of aesthetics, depiction of theme and effects. Movie should not be more than 2 minutes in length

ENCORE - STEP IT UP Encore, the fierce and extravagant dance competition will witness groups from various colleges stepping it up to show the two left-footers out there, skill and incomparable talent!

Rules & regulations: No home team should compete in its own fest but they can perform on their own choice.
Judging criteria -Coordination Costumes

-Music (transition of songs, choice of songs, song editing) and its not necessary to have English songs
-Expressions -Energy

-Choreography ( prop utilization, versatility, technique) Maximum on stage 12, Max members in team 16, Backstage - no limit Minimum on stage - 5

Length of sequence 6-9, marks will be deducted for exceeding time limit. It should be a western dance event. No folk dancing or any other dance competition must be combined. Slotting should not be done on first come first basis. Host team should ask for the choreographers name and should announce it only after that team has performed. i.e. after the end of the performance. CD check should be done one hour before the event start. If any team plans to have a second round then the info regarding it must be disclosed in the invite sent to every team.

DOWN SQUEAK
Down Squeak, the ad-mad competition will truly revolutionize ad-making this year, with each team being provided with a theme & some petty things of daily use. The teams shall have to develop an abstract product according to the theme from the materials given to them, and advertise it by the means of a short-act.

Time to brush up your acting skills!

Rules & Regulations: Each team can have 3 - 4 members. Cross college teams are allowed Theme & the materials will be provided on the spot.
