Mother to Son In Langston Hughes poem mother to son I feel that he tells the readers how hard life

was for him and his grandmother. I believe he is telling his and his grandmothers life. For example his grandmother was poor and she suffered from her husbands death. She was still trying to raise Langston and her work through her hardships. An example of how Langston Hughes poem relates to his life. Langston had a bad relationship with his dad. It was a lot of tension between the two. He eventually tried to have his dad help him with going to college. His dad wanted him to go to a college to become an engineer but he wanted to go and become a writer. He eventually convinced him to pay for his college. They both worked through there problems and still tried to get there goals accomplished. In this poem he talks about allusion through out the entire piece of literature. He says this in the beginning of the poem with the line Life for me aint been no crystal stairs. The way he uses life shows that he is referring to when he was younger. Langston Hughes shows a compassionate tone for this story. Langston Hughes uses figurative language through out the whole poem. He says his life isnt crystal stairs and the way he is referring to it is a good easy life. He uses the splitters as the struggles through out his life. Bound noth Blues The poem bound noth blues by Langston Hughes talks about how he doesnt like to lonely and sad. This connects to his childhood because he didnt have his mom or dad around him so he had no parents to raise him except his grandmother. He was sad because he didnt under stand why he couldnt see his more or dad. I believe he use the metaphor a hoppin frog to explain how he feels he is out of place. This is also figurative language. The allusion I get from this poem is that the frog hopping. The tone that I sense from this poem is that the author feels unwanted. The theme I get from this poem is that the writer is lonely. Jazzonia The poem Jazzonia is about his times in the Harlem renaissance and how he saw everything musically, artistically and architecturally as seen in during Renaissance time period. In the tone, he wants the readers to have is that he wanted to convey that during his time it was also fun and exciting. He uses metaphoric language by talking about the singing tree. Although, I do not see trees singing as people do, maybe the sound of the wind blowing the leaves are melodic. I think that the theme is that he wants you to have fun and be excited about music. April Rain Song In the poem April Rain Song, the author talks about the rain and nurturing ways. I feel that he is describing the rain through his grandmothers eyes, seeing that she took care of him. The tone is sweet. Figurative language is used in this poem. The rain doesnt sing

people lullabies literally. The theme is to use your senses and enjoy nature and your time with your family and let them take care of you but thats my interpretation of the poem. The bible says to delight yourself in the Lord. This is what I believe the poem is talking about. Just is the rain nutures The Waldorf Astoria The poem seems like it discusses how the rich are able to stay in hotels while the poor and homeless sleep in subways and shelters. It talks about the wonderful menu in the restaurants at the hotels, but the poor have to go on a scavenger hunt for food. Ive had the pleasure of staying at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City with my mother. When I walked into the building I said to my mom now I see why you wanted me to dress up. The building was beautiful and my stay at the hotel was awesome. I was able to see the world differently between the haves and the have nots. Skate Life Oh skateboard take me to fun land Show me the skate life Take me to freedom plaza Lets see skaters Ollie off of stairs Let me see some insane tricks. Let me see your scars of progression Take me too cally where all skaters are Show me the dedication of skateboarding. Show me the excited faces after you land a trick Let me see your adrenaline in action Show me your skills Lets see how far you will go. By Julian K. Thompson
